Which is your favorite Hank among these 5 Hanks of country music?

If you've been listening to my input on KWMR's Bakersfield and Beyond radio show, you'll know where my biases lie.  I believe in being true to our musical roots, to our own musical communities and supporting our own native sons.

If you were asked to pick one of these, which Hank would you pick as your favorite?  I'm torn between Hank Snow, one of Canada's native sons, and Hank Ray, one of Bakersfield's native sons who has yet to reach the apex of his musical career.  The others really rock as well.

It's a difficult decision, I know, but just go ahead and take the risk.  Which Hank would you prefer to listen to on your way to work in the morning, or driving up the grapevine on your way to a weekend getaway?

I bet some of you didn't know that Bakersfield actually had a talented Hank of its very own.

Based on the reluctance to comment, it appears that it's turning out to be a more difficult choice for most of you than I could have possibly anticipated.  I wonder if the vote is ever this close on American Idol.

Hank Williams of course

Finally, we have someone who is not afraid to commit to an answer and to commit to one of the Hanks.  Thanks Ms. Jenny.  Hank Williams is, and always will be, one of the great ones.

So, now it's a tie between Hank Ray and Hank Williams.  Who will step up and break the tie for us?

This song reminds me of a young man 18 yrs old he was a son of a co worker and he went to Viet Nam never to return alive, we used write every day, and always wrote these lines,"I so lonesome I could cry" of course being a radio operator was the first to go, so I was told. On the day he passed away I recieved a letter from him,,I still have that picture of him and that letter, and those words.  I miss him,

Thanks for the link and for sharing that touching story.  In a great song, is always a great story, and within any great story, there is always a good song.

I've just added him to the photo gallery posted here, Nancy.  After watching that video, I've become a big Hank Thompson fan.

Us old timers remember him well.  He was smooooooth.  King of the western swing.  I'd forgotten that title.

My all time favorite...  http://www.youtube.com/watc...  Green Light.  Bruce, check out the lyrics and hooks all the way through.

This was the kind of country music I grew up with.  People tend to guess I'm a country fan now but they're wrong.    Im a fan of OLD country music.
