Fight the Nashville Country music establishment: Support Bakersfield sound: The next generation
Nashville or Bakersfield? Brad Paisley or Dr BLT? Today you'll get to excercise your right to free speech, and actually vote. Things in Nashville today look a lot like they did just before the emergence of the Bakersfield sound back in the late 50s and early 60s. It's all about putting polish before passion. The first generation of Bakersfield sound raised lots of hell, but they didn't invent rebellion against the establishment. In this free country of America, we can express that rebellion anytime. Today, you've been given an opportunity to support a homegrown underdog over an established, highly hyped, country music superstar. I must admit, Brad Paisley is a tough act to follow. Personally, I think he's a brilliant and highly prolific artist. And compared with other artists of the Nashville ilk, he's more gutsy and less glitter and gloss. But he's still not the underdog, by any stretch of the imagination. The original Bakersfield sound era was the era of the underdog. The next generation of Bakersfield sound-grounded, nu bako artists, or kccrockers (Kern County Country Rockers), as I call them, are underdogs---visionaries like The Councilmen, Hank Ray and Rockwell. I'm an underdog, and today, on the heels of my release of the new Dr BLTune, The Bottle's Getttin' Bigger, you can vote for my song over Brad Paisley's Alcohol. So go ahead, rebel against the Nashville establishment, root for the underdog, but only if you think The Bottle's Gettin' Bigger is better than Paisley's Alcohol. Dixie Chicks need a new record out. Much better than what's out there at the moment. Saw them perform on Austin City Limits a few nights back. WOW!

I am grateful to the Dixie Chicks for inspiring this, one of my most successful songs to date. Playin’ Politics with the Dixie Chicks This one didn't do quite as well, but it was put together swiftly on a whim, like some of the 5-minute rice meals on the market. Not Ready to Make Rice
