New song about Michael Jackson celebrates his music while facing the elephant in the room
Should I be celebrating his legacy, and mourning his death, or celebrating that he is not around to hurt any more children, while mourning the loss of innocence he brought to children if he broke the law and "beat it" (the system, that is)? If I'm not too ambivalent to record it, (given the bittersweet nature of Jackson's legacy), it will be posted at: Here are the lyrics: Bittersweet Legacy bittersweet legacy chorus: you gave us Billy Jean bittersweet legacy 9 comments from 5 users

Rev. Al just said that "Michael made culture accept black people". I'm all for being colorblind, But c'mon. MJ didn't even admit to being black after 1990.

I don't think you can make culture do anything its not already ready to do. I honestly think Michael Jackson never felt comfortable in his own skin, even after its color was naturally or artificially altered. He changed the face of popular music, that's as far as I'd be willing to do. posted by

Now, this is what I dread about eulogies. They're so over the top and exaggerated. Brace yourselves because it's just going to get more syrupy. Let's hope the real man doesn't get lost in the hype. edit Not you Doc. I was responding to the remark about Rev Sharpton. posted by

The man was complex and with a lot of problems. Too bad he never got them resolved, I might have had more respect for him. As it is, he was just another dysfunctional celeb. I expect there to be a battle royal over his estate and custody of his kids. posted by

Well, I look at it this way, God gave us the gift of Michael Jackson's music, despite the troubled nature of the vessel that the music was channeled through. posted by

Well, blog, I happen to turn to CNN to catch the latest on Iran when the news broke. I watched for awhile thinking if he's in UCLA med center, then he's o.k. Suddenly, he's announced dead. CNN didn't confirm the report so I assumed it was a hoax. After that, the coverage degenerated into repetition and news about Michael Jackson that wasn't news and I gave up trying to stay informed on current events. What is intriguing is the guy was in good health. He had a recent thorough physical. When I lost my younger brother I was astounded. I envied him for his robust health, he had a physical, he was one of these people who had no business being in a doctor's office. Yet he died suddenly from cardiac arrest. I guess the lesson is to make the most of what time you have. posted by
