As-yet-undiscovered local PUNKountry band to be featured on "Ain't I Buck Enough"
It isn't as easy as it seems having too many original songs on your hands. You've got to record as many as you can, and you've farm as many of them out as you can, or they end up sitting on a shelf collecting dust. I wrote "Ain't I Buck Enough" this morning, and now I'm putting on my talent scout hat in search of a local puckountry, bakobilly, or cowpunk band to record it. Once you've covered it, I'll go out and pitch it, or, as they say, pimp it for you. The song is about somebody trying too hard to be Buck Owens rather than do what is suggested in another song of mine, If You Wanna Be the Next Buck Owens---"Be yourself/be yourself/don't try to be anybody else. Here are the lyrics to this one: Ain’t I Buck Enough?
words and music by Dr BLT © 2009
I walk those lonely
Streets of Bakersfield
I sing with a twang
They say it’s sounds so real
I play a red, white and blue
Guitar with guts
Now tell me
Ain’t I Buck enough
I go to places
Where Buck used to play
Every night in my dreams
When I daydream in the day
The Lucky Spot
And the Blackboard and such
Now tell me
Ain’t I Buck enough
Chorus:
Ain’t I Buck enough
I play it mean and tough
I like my rock n country
Just a little rough
Not that Nashville stuff
All produced like fluff
Now tell me
Ain’t I Buck enough
I walk like Buck
And I talk like Buck
And I try to sing and play
And move like Buck
But I got no record contract
And I’m plumb outa luck
So tell me
Ain’t I Buck enough
