Democrats are not hesitating to go after McCain, but there's one thing most won't do: Add insult to injury as it concerns McCain's exceedinly courageous military service, and the concomitant torture he received at the hands of the enemy.
But Carter, and his ever-expanding ego, are quite willing to stomp his feet all over places even angels fear to tread.
Former President Jimmy Carter said that John McCain has been "milking every possible drop of advantage" from his...
There's a brand new song that's just been written and recorded by yours truly. It's hot off the press, straight from the BuckarooM. It's from the CD, Trout's Tall Tales, found here:
http://www.drblt.net
Hear the song, review the song, do whatever you want with the song after hearing it, and reading the lyrics at:
Bakersfield Sound Underground

Don't forget, if ain't goin' underground, you ain't goin' nowhere!
John Edwards seemed to have the world by the tail. Then he self-destructived. What are some of your ideas concerning why people such as Edwards self-destruct? Is there such a phenomenon as fear of success, or is this just a case of selfishness, narcissism, and ego getting in the way?
In the realm of blog n roll, I provide the topic and the tune. You provide the talk, in the comments section below. I hope you like the song attached...
It's a great day for hockey moms all across the United States, a great day for women, and a great day to be a Republican. Listening to Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin this morning speak made me proud to be a hockey fan, proud to be a Republican, and proud to back The Maverick, John McCain, for President of the United States of America.
I'm working on a song to celebrate this bold decision that offers women, and moderates of both sexes and all races, an alternative to the party...
Madonna: Like a Nazi: Condemned by the ADL for the very first time: Hitler-McCain link in poor taste
Madonna may be a shrewd business woman, a smooth, ebullient performer and entertainer, and she's come out with some pretty catchy, bouncy dance grooves. She can even pull off slower songs like Take a Bow. And the girl has staying power. Nobody can knock her in that respect.
But Madonna's never had a great singing voice. Therefore, she's always resorted to cheap gimmicks to sell herself. Shock and awe is what I'm talking about. Playing...
Bill Clinton's speech was nothing short of brilliant. And though you would have never known that just a few months ago he would have been proud to have shared the ticket with McCain, Biden's speech wasn't too shaby either. Yes, the speeches were built upon a foundation of falsehoods and propaganda, but they were both deftly delivered.
I believe the deftly delivered speeches, and the "surprise," special guest appearance by Obama, energized the...

I think she said McCain was a dear friend and that his service in the military was honorable, or something to that effect. Then of course, she pulled a Clinton, and said No way, no how no McCain.
I don't recall any positive adjectives she used to describe Obama. Am I forgetting something. I do recall her complimenting Michelle Obama. Maybe my memory is selective, but, at best, it was a pretty close contest between Obama and McCain.
Well, I must admit, the speech was brilliant. I'm sure Bill deserves a bit of credit, he probably gave her a few tips because it had his fingerprints all over it. And he certainly dropped the big bomb as a prelude with a prior statement of his that just so happened to have gotten out on the day his wife was to deliver the speech. It was the speech that will be remembered as the one that would put her on a firm political footing for the future, while basically sabatoging the...
Some of you know what I'm talking about. For the rest of you, don't reach for your dictionaries. Just look at this crowd at the Democratic convention.
You know that this has got to be on the minds of the Clintons as they prepare to step in as the big Democratic party uniters. If you think Monica Lewinski was the end of humiliation for the Clintons, think again. Once again, they've been publically humiliated. Now they must give the appearance of wholeheartedly backing him while silently stabbing him in the back.
Will they emerge as the big Party Uniters? They may be divided between themselves, but don't...
Fearing that the recent rapid narrowing of the gap in the polls between Obama and McCain is a sign McCain's next house will be the Whitehouse, and gleefully jumping at yet another opportunity to engage in "Gotcha! politics," the Democrats have been all over McCain about his recent fumble in response to being asked how many houses him and Cindy McCain own.
The bottom line is this: Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones at others multiple homes. ...
So far, I've written two songs about a man I never got a chance to get close to. How can that be, you ask? Well, it's a testimony to what an impact he really had on this community. This latest song, Hard-workin' Honky-tonk Hero has evolved from its original first draft. Here are the revised lyrics, with the new song title, and a sample of the song.
To hear the whole song, and nothing but the song, you need to go underground:

Welcome to Lyric Today, Hear it tomorrow, the blog n roll series where you read original Dr BLT lyrics right after they've been penned, and (provided the song-crowded freeway in my head allows them to survive the traffic jam), hear them the next day.
I've always said the mark of a good writer, or good artist, is that the writer/artist's work inspires more written works and/or more works of art. Such is the case as it applies to Bakersfield...
Welcome to Lyric Today, Hear it Tomorrow, where you can read my lyrics right after they've been written, and possibly hear them the next day, if they're not crowded out with other songs in the freeway of my brain.
Hi. My name is Dr. BLT and I have a confession to make. Even though I've written and recorded at least 3 songs now that folks have now downloaded by the 10s of thousands, I'm still listening to vinyl.
You see, I'm a vinyl addict. I'm...
It's the people that make up a city, not the buildings. And it's folks like Vern that built Kern. Bakersfield is a city, not made up of stones, but of singers, and of songwriters, and of songs.
That's where the new traditionalists, or, if you prefer, the new romantics, come in. We're building a new sound on the foundation that's build supported by folks like Vern Hoover, the owner of Trout's who just passed away.
Our sound is a work in progress and a...
Welcome to the blog n roll series I call Lyric Today, Hear it Tomorrow, where you can read the lyrics before the songs are recorded. Yes, it's called Lyric Today, Hear it Tomorrow, but that's not always the way it works out.
The songs I come up with are like cars crowding the freeway in my mind. Some survive the traffic jam and others sputter out and die on the side of the road. So some of these songs will never be heard, but they will be read, even if I'm the only one that...

tears are flowin’ down the street

For those of you who have taken an interest in the impact of Chad Vegas, for better, or for worse, on this community, I wish to provide an update on my recent interview with him.
The interview is complete. I have begun to approach prospective sources to see about getting this published. So far, I've remained local in my inquiries. I've been a paid writer for about 10 years, but only have one paid gig going. I'm experienced and frequently published, but far...
You may not have a tall tale about a wild night at Trout's Nightclub. You may have a tall of heartbreak that happened there. Or you may have a tale that you told at Trout's after having one too many drinks.

Welcome to the BLT in BeaTLes, Riddle me This edition. Here's your 2-part riddle: What are the words uttered at the very end of the song posted here, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? How do they differ from a very similar phrase uttered by one of the Beatles at the end of another famous Beatles song?
After answering this 2-part riddle, get the 2 additional trivia bonus questions correct at:

That's right, the fathers of modern science, and even the man who would be president, have all claimed to believe in a creator of the universe. Yet some of the very individuals who plan to vote for Obama are trying to marginalize those who believe in God as "wakos." I would encourage such individuals to brush up on their history, and take a second look at some of those who are self-proclaimed believers.
It just doesn't make good horse sense to me. With their latest surprise attack, seemingly out of nowhere, they seem to have learned from the Russians. But this is not Georgia, and this is not the KGB. But when they look deep into my eyes, they see "hostile takeover."
They seem to be the same bloggers that so passionately decry any attempt to limit free speech. Yet they want to muzzle me, or limit my expression of free speech over at Bakotopia.com

When you're waiting for important information at the other end of the line, and you're put on hold, isn't it nice to at least have some background music? Well, for those who are sitting at the edges of their chairs in anticipation of the release of my interview with Chad Vegas, I've got more than simply elevator music for you. This is the latest song added to my forthcoming soundtrack for the interview between myself and Vegas, dubbed Heading for Vegas. This song was...
It's called Buck, It's Your Birthday. You'll hear it at Bakersfield Sound Undergroundhttp://www.bakersfieldsound... where you can also find out about Oildale's limo and the Poor Man's Buck Birthday Bash! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUCK!
That's a phrase I don't hear applied to me too much. And the probable response (according to one post office employeed) is that the post office won't back my plan to raise money for the Buck Owens Resource center that assists those with heart conditions and diabetes, all because of the title of one song on CD. That song?

Here is the question:
What year was it when Chad Vegas traded in the politically correct, "winter" and "spring" breaks in schools for the previously established "Christmas" and "Easter" vacations?

Rumor has it that some of my younger fans have called this song "dope," but I wouldn't recommend smoking it. It's called Mrs. Hippie from Mississipi, and It's sub-titled Person Voted Most Likely to Vote against Chad Vegas. It's from the mini-soundtrack to the forthcoming interview hosted by myself, and featuring Chad Vegas.
Inga, I heard you've already aired Hanging Chad from that very same soundtrack, and I thank you for that.

Welcome to my Lyric today/Hear it Tomorrow blog series. I'm Dr. BLT and I'll be your host and featured singer/songwriter.
Next Tuesday we'll all be celebrating Buck's birthday, beginning with a ceremony over at what will be the Buck Owens post office in Oildale with the release of a brand new Buck Owens stamp. I've already written and partially recorded one song I plan to use to gain charitable funds around a cause Buck would support. That one was called Love Letter...
I call it Hank's Haunted House, but Hank contributed the lion's share of the work on it, so who am I to give it a title? I can't thank Hank Ray enough for allowing me to add my 2-cents worth to what I believe will be another future Hank Ray classic.
It was recorded on August 7, 2008 right here in the BuckarooM.
As you listen to this haunting song, feel free to reflect on any relationships that you've had that have left you feeling like you live in a ghost town. If...
One of the most highly anticipated local interviews is on it's way, and so is the mini-soundtrack to that interview. Where the interview will be published is unclear at this point. But Chad Vegas is a big draw in this community, and he's made an impression on almost everybody in Kern County.
Some of you have disagreed, but have been otherwise respectful in protesting the views of Chad Vegas. Others have been out for blood (in a figurative sense, that is). This...
Hey ladies: Are you with Tammy, in terms of your sentiment? Or are there things you are, and are not willing to put up with in a man? Are there things you used to put up with in a man that you no longer put up with.
Ladies, let's hear what you have to say on the matter.
Ready? Set? Blog n roll!
I used to use it frequently without hesitation. I used it in an interview I did with Merle former right-hand man of 20 years, and keyboard player for Merle Haggard and the Strangers, local musical genius, Mark Yeary. I think he mentioned something about it to me, but I didn't get it at that time.
I first learned (really learned) it was a cuss word in these parts, after an I interview I did with Homer "Streets of Bakersfield" Joy, and quintessential...

I ran into Chad today, in front of the brand new Starbucks on the corner of Hageman and Calloway, some would say, by accident. But of course, I believe there are no such thing as accidents. A Dr. BLT interview with Chad Vegas is destined via divine intervention.
Well, perhaps it was an accident, or some sort of Freudian slip that I asked him if he was "Chad Davis," but the rest was divine intervention, I can assure you of that.
Mr. Vegas just so...

For those who haven't been following my blog around, that's my new series--a series that will guide you through the latest hick hop news and music, on both the national and local scene. On a local level, it's slim pickin's, but not for long, not if I have anything to do with it.
Today, I've dug up a bit of hick hop history for you. It's the answer to your burning question, "What was the first hick hop hit ever?" Well,...

Welcome to What Up, Cowboy? It's my new hick hop series. Today, I'm introducing a song that is basically an old-fashioned country song with a touch of a modern hick hop twist.

This one's going out to all of the hick hop hockey players out there.

He's got more wit than 20 of the top country music songwriter's put together. That's how I feel about Toby Keith. He's part of the Bakersfield sound extended family, which is spread out all over the globe.

How do you feel about Toby...
