Here's one for all of you haunted honky-tonk fans. Happy Halloween!
Welcome to a very special Halloween edition of my blog series: Lyric today/Hear it Tomorrow. This is a blog n roll co-songwriter contest in which a No on 8 person will contribute a verse to my new song, YES ON 8 is not a YES on H8. "H8" word/number combo is just a cool way of saying the word "Hate." I ripped the idea for "H8" off of Avril Lavigne's song, Sk8ter Boy.
NO ON 8 FOLKS, here are your...
Everybody's demanding that everybody pay attention to their rights these days, and the list of rights keeps getting longer and longer. Well, that is their right, isn't it? Nothing wrong with rights, right?
Welcome to my blog series, Lyric today/Hear it Tomorrow. In the game of blog n roll, I supply the topic and the tunes, and you supply the talk. Today's tune (or rather, the lyrics to tomorrow's tune), and today's topic involve the subject of rights.
Have we...
That's right, liberals! Here's your opportunity. Yes, it's been 6 years since my cameo on that MTV-Video-Music-Awards-Nominated music video by the band, Cake; 3 years since my song Black Santa appeared on a relatively obscure top 20 downloads internet chart; 4 years since my song, Right-wingers Need Love Too received national airplay; and 2 years since my song, Neil Young (Have You Forgotten) was named the #8 Best Record of the Year 2002 by internet rock critic Al...
Those who are voting YES on 8 have a new theme song, and Capital Hill Coffee House has embraced it, and posted it. This is a place where some pretty big shots in government from both parties visit, so I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gets to the President of the United States.
It's a pretty cool site, so if you've never been there, here's the link:

I'm going to wait until the dust over the recent escalating emotions surrounding Proposition 8. I'm going to wait until after November 4. But sometime before Christmas, possibly before Thanksgiving, I am planning to meet with Kern High trustee Ken Mettler in a Vegas-styled Dr. BLT interview. He has agreed to an interview, and he has helped spread the news about the pro-YES-on-8 song. I am gracious for his help in getting out the song, and spreading its...
This song was never released on the original edition of the CD, Right-wingers Need Love Too, but it is now available for free to all who have donated to YES on 8, or who have actively campaigned to support it.
Those who voted No on 8, haven't done any work to support Yes on 8, or didn't make a financial contribution, will have to buy it at:

...but the good news is that they can hear it here by hitting the play command on the attached play station.

In decidedly less lofty, less elitist language, why are they so doggedly determined to diss and dog her? Even the supposedly "neutral," ostensibly "non-faux" CNN network is beginning to jump on the Palin-bashing bandwagon, refusing to acknowledge or apologize for this gross misquote that was hurled at Palin during a recent interview:

So, my fellow...
When most people think of a star rising in the midst of an election season, they think about a politician like Obama or Palin. They don't (or they didn't, until recently) think of somebody like Joe the Plummer.
Joe the Plummer has become an overnight sensation. He is the topic for some, the target for others, and the sleeper nobody was expecting would rise to this level.
Will this Joe phenomenon change the outcome of the election? Will it, or has it already put the wind...
Welcome to my blog series, Lyric Today/Hear it Tomorrow, where you are offered the lyrics to brand new Dr BLTunes before they're recorded. Today I'm introducing the new song, Powellin' Around with Obama.
I like to be gracious and magnanimous. I'd like to give Powell the benefit of the doubt for his latest stunt. But something inside won't let me. Something tells me it doesn't pass the smell test.
Like Obama, Powell is an articulate, smooth-talking, diplomatic...
Most of those intent on voting "yes" on proposition 8 have no desire to deny anybody any rights. It seems to me that the argument against gay marriage has to do with a traditionally established defintion of marriage that many hold to be sacred, as representing a union between a man and a woman. As I pointed out in the comments section of another blog, the term "marriage" has already been taken, by heterosexual couples and by the heterosexual community.
The...

Some have said that you are violating the separation of church and state. Is this really what you believe has them up in arms?
People can claim whatever they want. The fact is that the Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court say they are wrong. I would challenge them to educate themselves on the political philosophy of the American Founders and a proper understanding of the Establishment Clause. We must assume they actually think I am violating the Establishment...
Welcome to my blog n roll series, Lyric Today/Hear it Tomorrow, where you're exposed to lyrics to brand new Dr. BLTunes hot off the press, on the day they're penned, and just before the audio is released, God willing, the very next day.
In the game of blog n roll, that I humbly invented, I provide the tunes and the topic, and you provide the talk. Those are Dr. BLT's 3 T's---Tunes, Topics and Talk. Today, you'll be telling me what you think about the whole...
It seems you can't even turn a corner these days, whether you're in the real world or in the blogosphere, without somebody telling you how you should vote on the propositions. Even those claiming to be neutral are putting out flyers containing "information" on both sides of the issues are loaded with bias.
Some are not so subtle. Some even want to call you names and slap labels on you simply because they anticipate that you do not share their point of view on the...
I must give credit where credit is due. Sarah Palin coined the phrase. I'm not trying to make coin out of the phrase she coined, but I wouldn't mind introducing the topic with this tune. It's called (you guessed it) Pallin Around with Terrorists. It's from the album, Lipstick.
Visit http://www.drblt.net for more information.
For those still unfamiliar with my game of blog n roll, I provide the topic and the tune, and you supply the talk. So go...
Are you one of those fools, like me, who can't wait to begin playing Christmas music until the socially accepted period beginning around the day after Thankgiving?
Well, now there's a song that you can play that will silence your critics. It's a Christmas song, but it's also a song complaining about someone playing it too soon before Christmas. After hearing the song, I decided I may send it to the Eagles to see if they might be interested in recording it. ...
We need another Bob Dylan. I'm no Bob Dylan, but I have been inspired by his spirit of candid, outspoken protest of late.
If you've hit "play" on the attached play station, you'll discover that I've been tapping in to the anger and angst surrounding corporate greed and abuse pertaining to the Wall Street bailout.
Some have trouble accessing the play station so I've also posted the song sample in another format below.
The new BLTune is called Golden...
I'm no economist, or financial expert--- not even close. I'm a financial mismanager.
I'm also a songwriting psychologist, but you don't need to be a mental health expert to recognize that psychological factors weigh heavy on Wall Street, and that fear constitutes an ineffably powerful force on the market.
Fear breeds more fear and panic, and that intensified fear and panic contributes to the birth and development of more intensified fear and panic.
Individually, now is the...
Welcome to Dr BLTrivia. I'm Dr BLT and I'll be your host. Here's your first Dr BLTrivia question pertaining to the Dr BLTune, Flesh and Blood, the song you're listening to (posted right here). This is a brand new re-make of the original 1989 recording of this Dr BLTune, in which Dr BLT was accompanied in the studio by a band that had previously won 7 consecutive Star Search episodes.
Question number one: Name that Star-Search-winning act. Post your...
Welcome to Lyric Today/Hear it Tomorrow. Blog n roll involves me providing the topic and the tunes, and you, the talk. You'll hear the song tomorrow, God willing, and providing it hasn't been lost in the traffic of the song-crowded freeway I call my brain.
So here's the tune (or, at least the lyrics to that tune), and you've got the topic.

This is material from Bakotopia.com, where all of the action is today:
I regret to have put all of you who commented on the Palin pile-on post in the same category. There was one comment in particular that stood out---one comment that went against the grain of all of the other liberal groupthink comments.
There was one commenting party that dared to be different, and this comment inspired this song you are now hearing right here, right now. It's called We all Suck, and...
How many believe that the Taliban are hoping Obama wins this election? I tried to imagine what they might compose if they were to express their sentiments in a shout-out for Obama. I think they might take Billy Joel's Piano Man and turn it into something like this:
Sing Us a Song (We're the Taliban)
parody lyrics by Dr BLT
it's a pretty good chance
that we'll get our wish
Obama, the next president
'cause we're all in the...
I guess things could be even worse than the propsect of an Obama/Biden ticket. Can you imagine a ticket with these two "winners" on it? His name is Harry, not Howard, so why does he always seem to look so pathetically stern?
Welcome to the lastest installment in the blog n roll series, Lyric Today, Hear it Tomorrow. In continuing with the bitter parisan spirit I've been projecting since I fell off of the bipartisan wagon, I'm going to go...
I was doing great in my self-imposed partisan recovery program, but I fear I've fallen off the wagon. When I heard Nancy Pelosi's bitterly partisan diatribe in the midst of the delicate bail-out negotiations last week, it was if she reached out, grabbed me and yanked me off the wagon, forcing me to get caught back up in the partisan bickering I have so vehemently opposed in recent weeks.
For all of you let's-all-join-hands-and-sing Kumbaya non-partisans (all two of you) out...
