The Spiritual Lessons of Motorcycle Building

I know a couple of you have been following along with the progress of the Beemer rebuild.  I have just about completed her brain surgery:  (Rewiring the front panel) and got to put the front fairing on for the first time today.  Just for laughs I threw on a side panel halfway to see what the color scheme would look like...

Not too bad....but I think what is really important are the practical spiritual lessons I a learning along the way.

Lesson number 1:  Keep your attention focus on what CAN be done at any given moment.  I can't tell you how many times over the last few days I have been focused on one particular task or area of the bike, only to be thwarted by missing pieces, misfits, etc..

My habitual pattern under such circumstances is to become agitated and start frantically looking for things amid making mistakes and just generally making things worse.   What I am learning is that a more effective way to deal with such problems is to just move  to the things I Can do.   Once I have done that , the missing bolt or the needed insight will appear at precisely the right time.

Now if I could only apply the same principles to my life overall!

Its great to see you writing and working on your bike Cameron..it made my day to see this post from you. Been out of the loop here for awhile..but I will try to come around more often..especially if you and your wonderful lady are writing...give her a hug for me ok?

Well thanks for the compliment Dusty!  I will definately give the lady a hug.  This whole deal has been hard on everybody.

Good news though yesterday...The infection is way on the run and I am released to go back to work on a limited basis on October 8 with a brace.

So things are getting back to normal here...whatever that means.

Talk to you soon

Cameron

lol..hey you win some you lose some Robb! Am I playing you this week?

Cameron..sounds like you could use the Serenity Prayer.  LOL

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,  the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

It's that last line that's the kicker huh?  :-)

When you finish that bike, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing it's a part of you and not a machine shipped out to you in a crate.  Also when you say "bottoms up" you won't be talking about a drink, you'll be talking about how you rebuilt your special bike.

Congratulations on the progress both physically and metalically.  (Or fiberglassily)

And then some just lose, lose, lose like you and I Dusty. You're predicted to win, though...

Because you're playing me, lol!

Oh man Robb..we both suck at fantasy football don't we? LOL..I always do better when I let the computer make my picks..you think I would remember that huh? Btw..the entire league is filled with Bako residents..some are from the stock car fantasy league my ball and chain set up.

In NASCAR fantasy, can you pick the wall in different turns for defense?
