Everyone has heard stories about the camera with theold film in that nobody quite can remembmer what the heck is on the roll of film.

It has been over two months now on the alien planet (since I crashed the bike) and have been pretty much homebound ever since.  It has been kind of hard to face some of the repercucssions of the incident.  I have lateley been coming out of my funk and pulled out the camera and fired up the music studio.

I get to the point now finally....There was a chip in the camera which had the last pix before the crash on it.

And there was some cool stuff on it too....

Then I found this picture below which I now remember is my last stop looking for shelter.

See if you like the youtube video I made with these last pix and the original music.

Moto GP is the name of the game for the motorcycle world as we approach the July 22 race at Laguna Seca.  I bring this up not only because it is cool, but because our good friend Tim Mayhew of pashnit.com will be having a booth there for his second year in a row.  So, if you are lucky enough to make it to race day stop by and say hi.

The venereable Mr. Mayhew is also this weeks guest on Road Show discussing all the great Pashnit tours and eve/ts still coming up this summer right after MOTO GP.

Well what are you waiting for?   Get iTunes fired up and start listening!

Sorry Tim.  Haven't seen you for a while so I had to use last years pic.

Last week we had on the show the amazing Peter Lenz...

Here is some more info on him

We were also very sorry to hear that  he broke his arm last weekend in Calgary.  Hang in there bud, I feel your pain!

In spite of feeling ill I decided to take the long way around to Kingman.  Going this way gives one the opportunity to ride some of the more interesting sections or Route 66 with the added benefit of passing through Oatman, AZ

Without much comment I'll just take you through....

In Oatman, AZ of course the mules have the right of way

Flash forward.......

Made it to Kingman-finally.  I called home and told Patti I was thinking of checking into the hospital...I was that sick.  I took a long cold shower and drank the appropriate amount of water and stayed in this ugly little room until the next day.

As I have said earlier in this narrative I did not have my paper maps, foolishly relying on the California tradition of a Starbucks on every corner where you can check your computer.

My destination was Durango so as carefully as I could I drew up these directions:

http://Weckerleys.smugmug.c... />
Which caused me to end up in Page, AZ rather than Durango, CO.

This was not an entirely unpleasant experience as I got to see the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon,  as well as a part of the Until painted of the paintd desert.  But it got me no closere to  my goal,

Even thought i spent 12 hours in Page, my core temp stayed up....and it is the last thing i remember....  Until 2 1/2 weeks latter which is where iwill pick up this tale.

As many of you know this accident cost me my trave; writing job for FZ magazine.  I have a application in at Rider magazine so wish me luck.

Cameron

In the June 2004 issue "The Sentinel" official newsletter of the the civil air patrol the headline of the lead article read: "Don't Let Your Wallet Affect Your Judgement."

In this article it is pointed out how many fine pilots have eleceted to save a few bucks on an extra hotel night and fily instead....Fly that is into mountainsidses the ground, etc.

Sounds like a certain motorcyclicst of my aquintance.  As a veteran of many, many, many long solo miles it just was not adding up that I would just nod off  and crash my bike.

Heat Illness, now that makes sense...But I must digress.

When last I left you in this nifty tale I had been having just a grand old time in Nipton.

The next morning, however, due to the temperment of the the bed and breakfast cook I did not have wheelson the road until after 9 and it was already pushing 90.  Plus, the plan for the day was to ride the Mojave National Preserve.

I rode east along the Joshoua tree highway, then turned south on US 95.

From 95 turn east towarads Essex which is truly a ghost town.  If you follow Goff southwesest across I-40 you can catch just a little piece of Route 66 befor turning Northwest  on Essex.

The trip inside the park I have alread written about at some lenght iin

http://bmweerman.vox.com/

So it is not worth re-hashing here.---by the time I was out of the part though I was SICK

Even thought I had consusmed the appopriate amount of fluids the lack ot shade and weaaring black protective geart probably didn't help.

The nearest shelter was Kingman, AZ so without a ot of commentary I'll take you there.

To BE Conti.
