September 11, 2001: A day we shall NEVER forget
Six years ago, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, America was attacked by a bunch of senseless terrorists. It was on this day six years ago that we all watched in horror as the Twin Towers came down and the Pentagon was hit and when another hijacked plane went down in Pennsylvania. For several days afterward, TV networks either suspended programming or brought uninterrupted news coverage. It was on this day that more than 3,000 World Trade Center and Pentagon workers were killed. Many of the workers were American, but some were from other countries as well. And if it weren't for a few heros on another hijacked airplane, thousands more lives could have been lost (everyone on the plane was killed). Those heros were the brave men who fought the hijackers, causing the plane to crash in a field in Shanksville, PA. Who knows where that plane would have went, possibly into the White House? The US Capital building? Or anywhere else. Today marks the first time 9/11 has fallen on a Tuesday since the attacks. The terrorists wanted to instill fear into the American people. Instead, Americans mourned and rallied together in support of each other, this nation, and Liberty. We must move on, but we shall NEVER forget what happened on that day. We will not forget where we were when we heard the news of the attacks. As the Alan Jackson song goes, "Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?" I remember where I was; I was at home waking up and getting ready to go to school (at BC). (my class ended up being cancelled so I came back home). We shall never forget all the bravery of the men who fought the hijackers in Shanksville, or the bravery of all the men and women who helped in the recovery efforts, and the bravery of the men and women in our military who fight for our country so we can have and enjoy the freedom we have and to help spread freedom to other countries, like Iraq, and get rid of terrorists and regimes that kill people and supress freedom. WE SHALL NOT FORGET THE SOMBER DAY THAT CHANGED AMERICA AND THE WORLD FOREVER! 1 comments from 1 users
