Takes about 1-2 minutes.
Having trouble deciding who to vote for in 2008?

This will compare your answers with ALL candidates.

I found this to be of interest .... It did not select the candidate I had expected!

Of even more interest was which were way down the list - and why..

Click on the website below

I'm sure you'll want to pass this along to friends ... I suggest you do it without disclosing  who your candidate was before and after the survey !

Every time I take these, I end up with Kucinich.  He's not my guy, though in a perfect world this would be the Democratic platform.  I think the beauty of this quiz is that you really find out the positions of the candidates.  For instance, I was reading a poll recently that said less than half of Republicans realize that Giuliani is pro-choice.

I came up with my party~just not the canidate I thought. Interesting.

First time I took one of these: Edwards. Next time: Giulani. This time Biden.

This was the toughest test, though. I didn't like the choices being offered, but maybe that makes it a good reflection of the race.

Here is how mine came out.

1. Chris Dodd
2. Dennis Kucinich
3. Hillary
4. Obama
5. Gravel

And here is how I rank them w/o the survey

1. Gravel
2. Obama
3. Hillary
4. Dennis Kucinich
5. Chris Dodd

How I will vote:

1. Gravel - primary
2. Obama/Hillary - General

I prefer Obama over Hillary, but either is better than any of the GOP candidates to date.

There is absolutely NO candidate on the current Democrat or Republican tickets that reflect MY values or interests.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY SUCK!

and

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WOULD SELL US OUT IN A NEW YORK MINUTE.

As it currently stands, no matter which candidate I choose it will be with one hand marking the ballot and the other holding my nose in disgust.

Curt

I think most of our elected representatives in Washington start off their careers wanting to do what's right.  It's our broken election system that makes them corrupt.

I believe we need more than just 2 parties...we need multiple parties to reflect our views. I would enjoy seeing 6 or 10 national parties. Then I believe we would get a better representative of what we hold value.

I came up with Dodd as #1 and my candidate as #4, but the differences are mainly in the "not that important to me" column.  All the Republicans came up at the bottom, as I expected.  But my real choice isn't running.  Yet.

Random...who is your real choice?
posted by jfrancais on Oct 1, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Survey outcome:

  1. Dodd
  2. Gravel
  3. Kucinich
  4. Obama
  5. Clinton

I'm voting for Obama, however, unless one of the others cam impress me. I have no real information on these other folks in my top 5 with the exception of Clinton.

I really like Gravel...he is plain spoken and like what he has to say...but I dont think he will make the party ticket. So hopefully Obama

Clue:  He may be winning a Nobel prize later this month, sf.   But I'll vote Edwards in the primary if no better choice.  If Senator Clinton is the nominee, I'll vote for her over any Republican, but dammit, I'd rather see a Democrat in the White House.

I'm voting Edwards in the primary because I like his reasoning even when I disagree with him.  I also feel like he's worked to be where he's at philosophically and I don't see him changing for political convenience.

I am a big Edwards fan. I do believe he is sincere and has backed up his rhetoric with actions. I won't bore everyone with a litany of reasons why I think he would make the best nominee or President. He is a bright and courageous individual who has had his share of pain and knows what being without truly means. This is why his message resonates with people who listen to him speak. I admire anyone, regardless of the win loss record, who has gone up against the corporate world of greed and neglect.

I am always surprised that people could even think about voting for a Republican  these days.  This is the political party of cowardice that runs and manages on fear alone.  Will President Bush or Vice-President Cheney ever appear in a real public setting with real people surrounding them, or just with sycophants and club members for photo opportunities? No major Republican could be bothered to appear for a debate scheduled with Tavis Smiley as moderator. The Party won't address the NAACP , has totally alienated the Latino vote by its xenophobic  zeal to seal the southern border.  This is the political party that brought torture as America's new method of interrogation and fought to skirt Geneva Convention rules of care for prisoners of war. This is the political party that did away with Habeus Corpus to keep people it knowingly knew it could not convict from ever seeing the light of day. This is the political party that thinks it should examine all phone calls and computer exchanges of its citizens, just like employers do now as well. This is the political party that has gutted the federal government to the point where there is no one left to oversee consumer protection laws and health and safety guidelines. This is a political party that offers up Jesus as a marketing tool and abrogates every teaching He uttered in the Bible. If you're looking for a crusade and want all the coin of the realm residing in the hands of the feudal few this is your political party.

As much as I dislike the Republicans I think that Democrats (Republican Lite) are cowards, too. There were many promises made before they took over congress, but we are getting the same ol' rhetoric and results. They're both serving us the Kool-Aid.

I would vote for:

Newt Gingrich (he's unelectable but very smart)

J.D. Haworth (he didn't even get re-elected in AZ though)

J.C. Watts (not in pool -- yet)

Michael Steele (He's not in pool)

That leaves me with

Mike Huckabee

If it comes to it, the lesser of evils, then Rudy (assuming he is the nominee and the only other choice is HRC)

No surprise who came up as my candidate (based on actual issues, not "electability"). Or why my second choice (to actually vote for) was ranked further down (because of the way the questions were asked, and options given).

.

I'm not surprised that you'd prefer Gingrich, Chico. You both hate the same parts of the Constitution.

mattloch, no surprise that I got the same one.

So Mitt gets my vote..... hmmmm. What I would like to see is a true "Jeffersonian" Libertarian that could actually win. Someone that could actually get our *real personal liberties* restored. I know I am going to get beat-up for saying this, but it is my true feeling, Have at it, I'm sure you *all* will... I'm ready !
posted by ChicoEsquela on Oct 1, 2007 at 05:09 PM

You don't know what parts of the constitution I "hate" Mattloch. You are full of hubris to presume to know if there anything in the constitution that I hate.

Your support of Kucinich says it all for me.

Moonbat Alert! <albeit well spoken> but moonbat nontheless

You're right Pete

No surprise

(I will say the little moonbat trekkie will appear on FoxNews at least!)

posted by adampayne on Oct 1, 2007 at 05:33 PM
Well Mitt won't restore any personal liberties, gsisola. Mitt's in favor of torture and expanding Gitmo. He's also the private equity man gobbling up companies to displace workers and replace them with foreign made garbage that gets made outside US labor and safety standards. Democratic candidates have nothing in common with Republican candidates today. Only McCain can show up for a Univision sponsored debate for the Republicans. I already mentioned the Tavis Smiley dodge. The Republican candidates won't appear in public with a diverse crowd. They are all frightened of what makes us Americans, diverse backgrounds.

I know Adam, it's just when I took the survey that's who came out on top, hence my hmmmmmm.
