In order for companies to save some overhead and keep there company afloat why not tell the unions to stick it. I read somewhere that auto workers are paid 85% of there regular paycheck when they get laid off that is friggen nuts why lay them off if you still have to pay. Have them clean toilets around the shop if there isnt anything else to do and if the plant closes sorry buddy hope you were able to save. Thats what i did when i got laid off I diddnt have a union to take care of me and i made it just fine. I had unemployment to help until i got a new job (which wasnt in my field but hey I cant sit around like a bum all day).  As for you Mr President where is all the shovel ready work you said was waiting for the TARP money it sure hasnt hit Bakersfield yet except if you count Bank of America. Your forgetting what you said in your campain that small business is the backbone of the country well while you bail out large corporations for your lobbyiest pals small business is failing. The construction industry in this town is in shambles and as i drive around i see roads that need repair, bridges that could be built and yet our equipment is sitting idle. Mr Governator that goes for you to I noticed that the company that was working on Gosford Rd between Panama and White Ln was from Oregan. How can the county supervisers award a contract to an out of state company when local companies are starving to death. Even the company doing the sewage plant on Ashe is from down south. I dont know what its going to take to turn this ship around but what our so called leaders are doing isnt helping its getting worse. I just hope that somebody somewhere will take a stand and stop the nonsence

Ever hear of paragraphs?

Of course construction is hurting in this town.. that's a no-brainer.. and it has nothing to do with Obama.

As far as hiring companies from out of town, they obviously bid out their competition.

Come on FSG..This isn't a writing class. Anway chickenhead, I think the automakers should tell the unions to stick it as well, but they DID make concessions to help keep the companies alfloat. That's a start. I remember when Chrysler was in trouble the first time. Lee Iacocca took  $1.00 salary and then told the unions "I have 10,000 jobs at $12.00 and hour. I have none at $17".

Construction is hurting everywhere.
