Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per
Year.

And Welfare Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month $12,000.00 per year Joe
Legal is now in the hole minus (-) $4,769.00
Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy
Jose Illegal pays rent $500.00 per month $6,000.00 per year Jose
Illegal still has $25,200.00
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job
After work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school.
Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children
Get a government sponsored lunch.
Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's
Children go home.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire

how do you know Joe Legan isn't Hispanic? Are you really asking me that question? There are plenty of undocumented people who are of non-hispanic descent who live in every major city in America. They come from all over the world. Funny, though.. just about every argument I see from the "anti-illegals" point of view usually only speaks to the Latin American immigrants.
If someone is truely against "illegal" immigration, why is it rare that any of these people ever talk about the many Europeans, Asians & Africans who move here without documentation? The reality is that many of the people on these blogs touting their anti-"illegal" point of view are buying into the racist stereotypes - most of them probably subconsciously. posted by

What is amazing is how the point is being missed here. The point has nothing to do with the color of a persons skin. The point is persons who have migrated to the USA, specifically California abuse a system which was meant to help people when they fall upon hard times. The people who abuse this system, legal or illegal, are making a mockery out of the government and the government does not need any help in that department. The point is the people who work for a living, pay taxes and try to be Americans are getting screwed by the people who are abusing the system. When are we going to put our foot down? A woman in Mexico ( and I am just using this as an example) can walk across the border in the morning, have a baby in California in the afternoon and guess what? California is now sending money to Mexico to help raise this baby and paying for the medical bills! What part of this is right? And anyone from any country can do this. How is this creating a productive citizen for the United States? It's not! It is just taking money away from you and me! That is the point, Joe Legal is getting screwed over by Joe Illegal no matter where he/she is from and no matter what color their skin is.

Let's put it this way - if instead of "Joe Legal" we saw "Juan Carlos Legal" - that would take away the racist undertones of the "story" by acknowledging that there are millions of Hispanics who are not only legal US citizens, but have been for generations.
As far as abusing the system, I agree - plenty of people, in general, abuse the system, which is why I'm all for reform of the system. However, instead of wasting billions of dollars building walls that people can tunnel under, I'd rather we make it easier for people to not only become U.S. citizens, not only become better acclimated to our society by promoting more ESOL classes, but by also making them feel welcome to our country. The more citizens we create, the more taxes they generate, which equals less of a need to abuse the system. Unfortunately, the majority of racial and/or social groups have all been mistreated over the centuries - from the Irish to the Chinese to the Eastern Europeans to the African Slaves to the Italians to the Mexicans. In an age when we're more of a melting pot than ever, when more people are educated than ever, you'd think that we'd have a more tolerant and no-nonsense point of view. Those who are most sucessful in this life are those who not only anticipate, but adapt to change, instead of those who either ignore it, or refuse to move with it. We could easily solve many of our problems if we could all think in such ways.
