You will never hear me say this face-to-face because it is simply too embarrassing for me. One of the starkest, humblest times I had to face my own arrogance and prejudice and do a serious retraction was when I enrolled into the Learning Center to learn a bookkeeping program out of desperation. Me, college educated professional, enrolled into a "loser school" with dropouts and wetbacks.
Among co-workers I became the "go to" guy for the software before I finished the class. The software has been obsolete for years. The rest of the education is still retained and exercised.
As gsisola says, maybe the students have a different opinion.
But on a lighter note, yeah, I gotta agree, those topics do look frivolous.
