What SHOULD you be doing rather than being on the TBC? In other words... what are you procrastinating from? I'm supposed to be working... lol I'm getting really burnt out on television. After I got rid of cable, besides basic, there is nothing on. More often than not it's littered with infomercials or that stupid focus ministries thing. And... as much fun as those are to watch I'm going to have to pass. So, I'm looking for any good books. Has anyone read any good books lately? Any, serious, suggestions? You have my vote! These are some discrepancies in the bible. Taken from a book of the same name. God is satisfied with his works: Gen 1:31 Yesterday, I decided to finally take my books, that have been sitting in a pile in my livingroom, down to the library to donate them. I specifically chose the southwest branch because when I was young that was the one I went to. So, needless to say, it has a special place in my heart. And I just remember it being so sparse. (Also, the state of california cut the budget for public libraries nearly 70%. So funds for new books isn't happening.) Anyway.... My point is I'm traveling west on Ming Ave. and I get to the library and there isn't a turn out! Still after all these years. I have to go all the way up to Haggin oaks and flip and U to get to the library. I know it's not that big of a deal but it just doesn't make any sense. (Listen to me. Bakersfield roads make sense... HA!) Does anyone else agree? I found this fascinating. It was on the website: http://ancienthistory.about... The Fall of Rome "There are adherents to single factors, but more people think a combination of such factors as Christianity, decadence, lead, monetary trouble, and military problems caused the Fall of Rome. Imperial incompetence and chance could be added to the list. Even the rise of Islam is proposed as the reason for Rome's fall, by some who think the Fall of Rome happened at Constantinople in A.D. 1453. " I have found most people tend to ignore the things that happened in the past or choose not to really understand what was going on at the time something happened, written, said etc... And to know where we are going we must comprehend what we have come from. Also, our nation is very close to the roman empire. One main thing we do that is VERY roman is the pledge of allegiance. Placing our hand over our heart... Anyway... I'm probably wrong. My wife and I are expecting our first child any day now. A beautiful, natural, biological child - just the way God intended children to be. Impending fatherhood, plus the fact that my home state of California has proven that civil rights are subject to voter approval, has emboldened me to raise an issue that's been overlooked for years: the issue of adopted (or "unnatural") children's rights. As a parent-to-be, I find it insulting that my biological son will be forced to share words like "mommy" and "daddy" with unnatural children. I feel that sharing cheapens those words, and weakens our natural father/son bond. After all, if anybody can throw around words like "son" or "daughter" to describe someone they share absolutely no DNA with, where does it end? As far as I know, Kobe Bryant and I aren't related. So what's to stop me from calling Kobe my "son?" Or for that matter, my "daughter?" If unnatural advocates had their way, Kobe Bryant would, for all intents and purposes, be my daughter. See what a slippery slope we're on here? In order to protect the sanctity of natural parent/child relationships, I propose a ballot measure requiring unnatural children and parents to use the following terms: "Female Adopted Parent," "Male Adopted Parent," "Adopted Male Child," and "Adopted Female Child." If you ask me, they're every bit as good as "mommy," daddy," "son," and "daughter." And what's more - those parents and children would still have most of the rights as natural families under my proposal. Look, I have nothing against adoption. Some of my closest friends chose to be adopted as children, and I respect their right to reject the biological lifestyle. All I'm saying is, keep it away from my kid. Don't go teaching him that it's the same as his natural, God-approved union with his real mommy and daddy. Besides, we all know that parents don't love adopted children as much as natural ones. Just ask my daughter Kobe. Written by Seth Grahame-Smith Sited from: http://www.huffingtonpost.c... I put forth a challenge for any and all who can give me justification or reasoning on how Prop 8 is NOT a religious issue? But, Keeping in mind this point: Prop 8 has NO bearing or affect on the teaching of homosexuality in school. Actually the state of california allows parents to take their children out of a class session that goes against their religious beliefs. And Prop 8 is about making a constitutional amendment to ban gay MARRIAGE not the teaching of social lifestyles in school. Other than that I don't see how it isn't a religious issue. Because the other arguments are about church's losing their tax exemption, which actually wouldn't happen. That church's having to perform same-sex ceremonies against their religious beliefs. Now, why would any sane gay person WANT to make a group of people, who makes it evidently clear they don't think of them as a human being or approve of their lifestyle, force them to perform a ceremony of their deep commitment with each other. The reason I ask for these details is because this country is supposed to be impartial on religious issues. There is to be a seperation of church and state. Which is funny because the KHSD spent over a thousand dollars to put posters of "in god we trust" in every classroom. If that's not a breach of that seperation I don't know what is. Sure you can defend it by saying it's on the money but that actually didn't happen until the 50's. Before that it didn't exist. And you have to keep in mind not everyone believes in God. How would you feel if they posted "There is no God" poster in class? Or "Buddha is the way" or "Mohammed is peace." They would throw a caniption fit. The problem with this town is that the majority of them are Christian, I being one of them. But I don't feel it necessary to push my religious beliefs on to other people. Also, I have to mention this. It somewhat applies. I've noticed people comparing this to Nazi germany and fascism because the government is FORCING them to agree with same-sex marriage. Actually, that's not at all like Nazi germany. They had a thing about taking away rights not giving them out. And they also were apart of the Nazi party who forced their beliefs on to the rest of the country for the good of the people. To protect the arian race. SOund at all familiar? Think about it.
