Awesome God!
(I borrowed today's entry from the August edition of my newsletter, Musical Notes, so if it sounds familiar to you, it probably is!)

I recently heard from an online friend who had dropped offline for awhile. I had honestly been worried about her … just had an uncomfortable feeling about her “disappearance. “ I had her on my prayer list, so it was a distinct pleasure to open up that e-mail and realize who it was from. Turns out she had been going through some things that were certainly less than fun, and I was glad I’d been holding her up in prayer.

It made me think yet again how very mindful our Savior is of us. He loves Delyn so much that he laid her on the heart of someone who knows her only by name and photo. We’ve chatted a bit online, enough to know that we have a lot in common—not the least of which is that both of us are writers. But I’ve never met this pretty Texas author, so I can’t say I really know her well. And yet … God chose to lay her on my heart in her hour of need.

I never cease to be amazed at the care and concern He shows us every day that we live. Even when we don’t realize what’s happening, our Father “has our backs.” And when we cease to care about ourselves, He still cares, and continues to fix things for us. He truly is an AWESOME God!

Jeremiah 31:3
... Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.

Everlasting love? That means it lasts, or endures, through all time. Uh-huh … forever. Endlessly. Eternity upon eternity!

Can you wrap your mind around the reality of this? God’s love for us never ceases … even when our behavior is hurtful toward Him; when we ignore Him and go our own way, doing our own thing, living our own lives … our heavenly Father just keeps right on loving us and yearning for us to love Him in return. Even when we don't love ourselves, He does.

And when we have a problem, He wants to fix it for us, in the same way that we want to make everything right for our children. The difference, of course, is that we can’t always do it. But God always can, because He is the solution! He is well able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we can ask … or even think! (Eph. 3:20)

Oh, yes ... He’s an AWESOME God!

No, but I can wrap my mind around reality.

I'm with you Delia!  Anyone who believes in any type of god in any religion, would agree that we can't go through life alone.  Spirituality is important.  I respect those who don't believe in a god and hope that they respect me.  It seems that many bloggers on this website get very defensive when someone posts anything that deals with religion.  It would be great if we could just have a civilized conversation about each of our opinions without insulting each other.  Tolerance comes from learning about each other, not attacking people that don't agree with you.  I don't think that robbwillis was attacking  Delia in this post but it is sarcastic.  I know that this post is not going to make a huge difference but if it affects one person's attitude when it comes to lashing out at other's beliefs, then wonderful.

Me? Sarcastic?

Thanks for the benefit of the doubt, JenFord. Sagefever asked me recently what I would do if one of our crazier religious nuts did finally go away. Well, I probably would miss his totally laughable yet gruesome posts. All religions can't be the right one, but if you're going to come on the blogs and claim your supernatural being is the one true one, the others will consider it an insult and the atheists will have their fun.

Robb~ lol. Well said.  :-p  I am a spiritual person with atheistic overtones~ always in the middle , always the problem child in these discussions.  I know enough not to claim follow me, or follow my "God"  just because of what Robb says.  It is fine to praise what you believe in ,but you have to assume others will disagree.  And have their fun.

I agree with you about the fact that this is not one sided.  I don't agree with those who claim to be religious and then talk down to those who are not apart of their sect.  I think that it is great to express one's opinion about their own beliefs.   I don't think that it is great to express that opinion negatively by slamming others.   It just creates hatred.

Thanks for the support, Jen ... and for the other opinions, as well.  I learned long ago that not everyone believes as I do, and that's OK.  I most likely will not change their minds about that, but ... they won't change mine either.  And isn't it nice to live in a country where we can all believe what we believe, and hopefully without persecution?

Not defensive, JenFord, just reminding those (especially the young) who are questioning dogmatic religious beliefs, even questioning whether there *IS* a God, that lots of folks have come to the conclusion that there is no God.

Those people came to that conclusion quite often at the cost of friendships and family relationships, were looked down upon and actually insulted by people who fail to give the atheist point of view the same tolerance they expect of their religious beliefs.  It's easier now, but still not "easy," to come out as an atheist.  That others share the same conclusion makes it a little bit easier still.
