dmchenry - > My blog -> Two milestones
Two milestones
Well I hit two milestones this week:

First, I finished ripping all my CDs to my iPod. I have about 5,000 songs and about 40-50 hours of video. And I still have nearly 20 GB left out of the original 40. Pretty incredible.

I also installed the grille on the 71 Cutlass. There is a pic attached. It looks pretty good and once I get the thing painted it should look really sweet.

I also did a lot of work on the Monte recently, but I left my camera in Fresno so you'll have to wait on the pics. By the time I move next month the thing should be looking SHARP!

So, what are you going to do with the other 20 gig?  My Bro-n-law has a multi-gig iPod with about 10 audio books, pictures, all sorts of things.  Why 10 books?  Because he can.  I have a 4 gig Sansa with music and pod casts I download to listen to away from my pc.  B-n-l is critical!  He says I am an electronic ninny.  I have all I want in a portable , plus Sansa does digital recording so I can record "stuff" and move it to my pc as .wav and listens to it later via Windows Media.

/curious about your use of iPod

You can record with an Ipod too. You just have to buy the mic.

Might I suggest putting a photo album slideshow on there. You can show people your cars, pets, etc.

How can you stand having those things in your ears all day long?

Hey! I remembered my user name!!! I can actually leave a comment. This is a big moment in my techno lacking life!

Koz:  You should convert those files in wav to MP3 or WMA.  The take up much less space.

Lhenry:  I have the huge gazillion mega monser IPod and never have things in me ears (well except q-tips, hair, and an occasional knat.... how do they know how to find an ear in the dark anyway?).  I hook my IPod to my car stereo with a cassette adapter.  I play it through my old truck radio with an FM converter.  I am ordering a connector to connect it directly to my stereo in my SUV.  I too can't stand walking around with things stuck in my ears.

I'm not sure what I plan to do with the other 20 gig. I guess it will be room to grow. However, I have used it to transport large files already. It is like a limitless memory stick.

I actually am not a fan of earbuds. They either fall out or you have to jam them halfway into your brain. But since I have to wear headphones a lot at work anyway, they aren't that distracting. I am wanting to get one of those FM transmitters, but since two of my three cars don't have stereos at all (no speakers either) I am not in a rush.
