Hey all,
I just wanted to put up a single blog for folks to talk about our new blogs and give us feedback on ways we can improve them. I know there are some loyal blog commenters who are not too happy with the change and probably have ideas for tweaks. But I also know there are a lot of new users out there who have ideas too. We want to hear from all of you. And this is the blog to do so. Davin McHenry Web Editor dmchenry@bakersfield.com
So I finally picked up my bumpers today from AC Plating in East Bakersfield. They look pretty darn good. Too bad I had to wait nearly three months for them.
I also found a place in town to buy bumper bolts -- by special order. Now I gotta wait a week for them. And can I just complain one more time about the heat? I swear I was sweating up a storm driving all around town to get the bumpers, gas, etc. The only nice part was going through the car wash, which cooled down the car considerably. Maybe I need to get one of those monthly memberships and have my car washed everytime I go for a drive in the heat. Hmmm...
I got the Monte back from the body shop this past weekend. This was their second attempt and they did a much better job. There were no obvious scratches under the clear coat or big dings.
Check out a couple more photos at my blog.
...when you start sweating in the car -- during your morning commute.
Boy do I love living in the valley. When do you know it's summer, folks?
I returned Monday from a weeklong vacation to find that my macho desk had been converted into a pink, girly flower-strewn cubicle.
Enjoy the pictures.
Well I spent part of my weeklong vacation finding, cleaning and installing a new hood and radiator core support on the Cutlass. For those who don't know what a radiator core support is, it basically is what holds the whole front end together. It bolts between the front fenders and holds the grille, headlights and, as the name implies, the radiator.
The new hood was needed to get rid of those hideous hood pins. Here are some pics of the car after the work was done. You can see more details at my photo blog.
In the tradition of the crazy cat lady who calls her cats her "babies," here are my babies...
So I expect presents from everyone.
Well we've launched our online blogs. What do you guys think of 'em?
