Pictures of the new Skywalk over the Grand Canyon
I like looking at the pics..but I could not handle walking on that 'thing'. From Cnet:

Afraid of heights? You might tread carefully, then, if you visit Grand Canyon West, a tourist destination whose main attraction is The Skywalk. The cantilevered walkway, which is made its media debut Tuesday, is a mere 4,000 feet above the bottom of the canyon. It opens to the public on March 28.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, was one of the first to walk out onto the structure.

The open-air skywalk extends 70 feet out from the rim of the canyon, where it's anchored deep in the rock landscape. It will be open from dawn to dusk, and the price of admission is $25 per person. (No word on whether that price includes an airsick bag.) As many as 120 people will be allowed on the bridge at any given time; each will have to wear special shoe covers to prevent slipping and scratching.

$25 bucks? Geez..it isn't cheap is it?

I can hardly stand to get on a step ladder to change a light bulb - just the pics of this scare me.

The total cost is a lot more, one must also pay to be on the reservation etc,I am not sure but I believe it is at least $100.I am scared of heights~even though I do the edge thing anyway~ went to the Canyon to do a "cure" just to big to see it as real. But my torn up feet knew it was real, made it rim to rim .I came away with a feeling of sadness, its such a wonderful place~then there's the bar on the floor~the coors can someone threw, thoughtfully near the trail~too many people~but the geology that unfolds step by step, the small waterfall we hiked to off the trail...now this.It is a way for the indegenous people to finally make some cash ~and boy do they need it.So to the purist ~your about 100 years too late,go "do the canyon" and "do the walk",it will help buy a wood stove or some other "niceity" for a poor person.

I wouldn't mind the cost knowing it's going to the tribe. I understand this is their last gasp attempt for some continuing revenue. If it wasn't for that, just the $25 would be to "steep" for my taste.

I wonder how long it will be before someone makes use of its "Golden Gate Bridge" service? You know somebody wants to be first.

I don't mind the cost either as long as the tribe is getting it all either Robb..as for the GG service..I hope they have folks on the walk that can prevent that type of action..nothing like kids seeing some wingnut jumping off to ruin a whole trip..not to mention a small young mind.

The tribe is also going to build a hotel, etc as soon as they figure out the water issue~they really need folks to go and do this~one of the poorest groups in the west.

You're not going to see my butt on that thing.  No way.

I would try it Sage, just to see if I could handle it. But the cost and distance make it impossible for moi.

I looks impressive, but I get weak kneed and sweaty walking over the railroad crossing at Rabobank arena.  To top that off, had jury duty last week and had to go over that several times.  Oh well, I like the idea of helping the tribe.  I know they took some heat for building a tourist trap from some folks, but these Indians are very poor.  This may be their ticket to a decent life.
