Note to police: can we get these attempted school abductions sooner?
As a cops reporter with more than 36 years under my belt, I judge the newsworthiness of crimes by my visceral reaction.
And I had a big reaction to the attempted abduction yesterday afternoon of an 8-year-old Castle Elementary School girl on Edgemont Drive. (See above link or Raw Reports blog under heading of "Annoying a child" which I believe is a major understatement) The little girl got away and ran back to the school for safety. Police are looking for the bad guy. It happened at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. We found out at 9:44 a.m. today. That's too long. Posted by Steve E. Swenson 7 comments from 6 users

This is a mother's worst nightmare. I hate when stuff like this happens, and yes, we should hear RIGHT AWAY. THIS CREEP could be going from school to school to school....makes me want to vomit. I've actually told my kids, NEVER GET WITHIN ARMS LENGTH OF A CAR OR VEHICLE. When they first started walking home, I would drive around and say things like, "Hey I'm lost can you come here and show me where I am on this map?". Or the old, "want some candy little girl? Of course they'd laugh, but they got the point with the ROLL PLAYING. They thought they'd be strong enough to get away when I grabbed their arms. That was a reality check for them. This is SOOOOO important! TALK WITH YOUR CHILDREN --- make them realize they're not as strong as they think they are.... I pick up my kids most of the time anyway now. Just because of stories like this.... posted by

i believe this information should be put out to the public as soon as it happens and all surrounding agencies should be advised. lets get these creeps off of the street so our children can be safe.
