Birth control pill for men? Ladies are you down with that?
It works for rats. Can men be far behind?

A birth control pill is being developed for men.

Studies show it has no side effects and doesn't reduce a man's virility. (That's good because that would be a deal breaker.)

Availability is still a few years away,

But the question is — would men take it? And would women trust men to take it? Or is abstinence still your favorite form of birth control?

I would NEVER trust a man to tell the truth about that especially if he really wants "it"

The woman is the one who will carry the baby and be pretty much responsible, so it is the woman's responsibility to prevent it if she doesn't want a baby.

I'd certainly consider it, but not right away. I'd rather see other people be guinea pigs first. It sounds like it will be an implant rather than a pill, which would work out much better.

Considering men would have control of their procreating rights and no longer at the mercy of "unscrupulous women" ;-) I'm willing to bet birth control for men will be a great success.

I think it's a great idea.  That way if one person forgets or "forgets", you still have another layer of protection.

I see the woman's side:  Don't trust others to do what you can do yourself.
.
I see the man's side:  Nothing wrong with an extra backstop of safety.  Father a child unintentionally, and you're sold into 18 years of state-mandated slavery.

dgrealish and Hardliner, you are both so right.

Men should consider it if they are sure they do not want kids or years of totally unfair child support.

He**, no I wouldn't trust a man who told me he was on the pill. I wouldn't trust them to wear a condom if I couldn't see it with my own two eyes :o)

And, guys, before you go gettin' all offended, I'd suggest you not trust some woman who tells you she's on the pill. There are a lot of men out there paying child support because they bought that line.

Well, Bako, you could always stick with the non-conceptual forms of sex...  But I agree with you.  From what I know of guys (present company excepted, folks) I wouldn't trust anyone who said he was covered.
.
Were it to affect me directly, I'd want *BOTH* of us on the pill.  And a condom besides.

That's what I'm saying.  I'm all for it.  Good to trust, better not to have to.

Hey, at least it would put an end to the old excuse "She said she was on the pill!"

It's a great idea. In theory. In reality, no. Its too easy of a solution!

Hey, ET, it's only called "abstinence" if it's voluntary. :)
