Hot gifts for Christmas
I just heard they are not all in Victoria's Secret catalog.
But at the morning news meeting, we heard about $99 laptop computers (with a Vonage string attached) at Circuit City and a 42-inch, plasma television at Wal-mart for under $1,000. (again, a regular tv for $100 sounds like a great deal to me). But what do you think are hot gifts for Christmas? They don't have to be cheap (except that means I won't be buying them), but they have to be something that would make someone very happy. Any ideas? Posted by Steve E. Swenson 8 comments from 4 users

Around 20 years ago, in response to being panhandled, I pulled out a giant wad of 100 dollar bills. "No," I said. "I don't have any 'spare change.' " posted by

I'll be checking it out. Trouble is, my neighbor on one side is young, single and never home. Not likely he'd have one. I've never seen the people on the other side so have no clue. Probably no luck here.
And no..you didn't say that out loud. ;-) posted by

I've got a secure wireless router at home and at my office. You should set up a password protected network just so that you don't endanger your own computer. if you're looking for a wireless card, make sure you get one that is compatible with b and g networks so you can use older hubs. As for me, I'm going clothes shopping for Christmas. Almost everything I own is either semiformal of covered with paint/tar/other stuff. Even the jeans I have on today make me look like an 80s rocker. :) posted by

Well there ya go. I used the letters for the spam filter and it STILL lost my post. Lucky for this blog that I copied it first or I'd be on a rip roarin' tear.
Here's the post... Tom, I don't have a laptop but only have cable in my bedroom (other than the liv. room) and will be setting up my computer in the spare room as soon as I can find a wall that isn't covered with boxes. The router will allow me to do that without calling the cable company for another outlet and having to get written permission from the owner of the house to do drill a hole. It will also allow me to use a laptop if Santa sees fit to bring me one of those too. (fat chance..I don't have a sugar daddy.)
I'm not sure what a gearhead is but I gather it was a compliment meaning I know something about computers. I know just enough to be dangerous. I listen and I learn from people who really DO know what they're doing and I'd be happy to take you up on your offer when I get that router. That's one of the things I like about this blogging community..people are so willing to help each other even when we've just had a boxing match. :-)
