Buried by tumbleweeds, it could happen here
A neighborhood in Bozeman, Mont. found itself buried in tumbleweeds.

Obviously, that could happen here where tumbleweeds are the city flower.

Bozeman is just north of Yellowstone National Park. I know two people who live there, a former Californian reporter named Gail Schontzler, and a golfer whose first name is Brown.

You can read the above link to see how bad it is for the people up there.

Should we be proactive and bring in the National Guard so a similar tragedy does not befall us?

Hell, no.  We should *PLANT* tumbleweeds, harvest and bail 'em for fuel.

Tumbleweed = Rolling Stoned.  And hasn't that happened here?  I remember a report a few years back about a cul de sac out southwest filled with 'em.  It was a blusterday just like yesterday.  I'd rather have them rollin' in than power lines blown down.

Last paragraph, tumbleweeds won't work for fuel .  But they make excellent snowmen!

Woof, it *DOES* work but you have to compress it into prestologs first.  As the article indicates, they "make" wood  more efficiently than almost anything else.

Processing. Both the baled and cubed material was ground in a hammer mill and was processed into artificial fireplace logs (Tumblelogs) by compression at approximately 137.9 x 106 Pa (20,000 psi) in Mod-Log and Pres-to-Log machines. Tumblelog density is about 1,000 kg/m3 (68.4 lb/ft3) while pellets made from ground Russian thistle have a bulk density of 640 kg/m3 (40 lb/ft3). The calorific value of Russian thistle is 14.7 x 106 J/kg (6,300 BTU/lb).

Concurrent with the study of converting Russian thistle biomass to solid fuel is a study of the possibility of converting the solid mass directily into a liquid hydrocarbon by using pyrolysis. This process is expected to yield 200 l/t to 400 l/t (50 to 100 gal/ton).

I know a lady who was once trapped in her house by tumbleweeds.  Woof, is that your dog or a doggie pic you found online?  Either way he/she is beautiful!
