I just heard they are not all in Victoria's Secret catalog.
But at the morning news meeting, we heard about $99 laptop computers (with a Vonage string attached) at Circuit City and a 42-inch, plasma television at Wal-mart for under $1,000. (again, a regular tv for $100 sounds like a great deal to me).
But what do you think are hot gifts for Christmas?
They don't have to be cheap (except that means I won't be buying them), but they have to be something that would make...
We will have a story in Friday's paper about a student valet program at Nichols Elementary School where older kids direct parents where to park, help get kids out of their cars and escort young kids to class.
This is in response to the daily chaos at schools where it is a daily miracle that more children aren't run over, lost or otherwise harmed in their effort to get to school each day.
All schools have plans for this, but all parents don't necessarily abide.
Does this...
I can't prove this cheap Hollywood gossip, but it appears that Britney Spears informed Kevin Federline via text message that she was divorcing him.
A video on You Tube seems to bear this out. Here is the link.
In case you can't download the video, it shows Kevin being interviewed, talking about missing his children, how Britney really loves him now, that she's his number one fan, together we can take on the world...until he's at dinner with an interviewer and he's text messaging...
Nothing comes easy for Nicole Parra as a late surge from Kern County voters put her over the top to win her third term as assemblywoman in the 30th District.
She was losing most of the night to retired California Highway Patrol officer Danny Gilmore, R-Hanford, until her 65 percent vote in Kern gave her a 1,500-vote victory in a 46,000-vote race.
As campaigns go, this was a street fight. Gilmore attacked what he said was her liberal voting record and linked her to failed governor...
I am so glad that Donny Youngblood was elected sheriff. I think this will ruin his golf game and I can't wait to go out and bet him on the links.
No strokes, buddy.
I like outgoing sheriff Mack Wimbish, but his golf game was never good enough to risk money on. Maybe he can work on that now.
I'm proud of both men for the clean campaigns they ran. I hope other politicians follow suit. Danny Gilmore, are you picking up on this?
But I suspect voters agreed to put Youngblood back in...
Forget about the election, the balance of power, global warming and world conflicts — Britney Spears has just filed for divorce from Kevin Federline.
That marriage lasted two years and one month, a virtual lifetime longer than her 55-hour first marriage to Jason Alexander before it was annulled.
Just what the heck is happening to fairytale Hollywood marriages nowadays?
I can't write more than this. I'm too shaken.

Nick Belardes has a blog about all sorts of local things.
He did an interview with me and posted some of my pictures with it.

Okay, happy bloggers, time to get out and vote.
This blog is to find out if anything weird is going on out there. Last election, the whole place went nuts with voting machines that didn't work.
This is just a place to let us know your experiences in being a good American.
A Florida business has been set up to call in sick on your behalf.
You actually make the recording yourself, and the service calls it in for you on the day and time you designate.
In murder cases, prosecutors call that premeditation.
You can find this at call-in-sick.com.
I don't know what offends me the most, the service or people who misuse sick days.
I've been working for 39 years in one job or another and I have never called in sick on a day when I wasn't sick.

Just want to give anyone an opportunity to share any Halloween experiences last night.
We live in a gated Seven Oaks community (not my money). Last year we had 5 trick or treaters.
This year, we had 50. At one point, four vans full of teenagers came into the neighborhood. We went through three bags of candy and dipped into a reserve supply.
I'm not complaining. I love Halloween and I get a big kick out of interacting with the kids. One teen remarked how polite I was. I took that to...
