Envision Bakersfield’s long-anticipated downtown linear park, South Mill Creek, finally at completion — except for a few spotty storefronts interrupting the scenic walking path every quarter-mile or so.

The arguments supporting Prop 98 are simplistic and miss the issues. For many ideology trumps reason and ideology is all 98 has going for it. By the same token cities who have abuse eminent domain by taking desirable property away from owners of modest means to benefit developers with upscale projects in mind is something that needs to be dealt with. Prop 98 isn't the way. posted by
