Child care advocate Wendy Wayne of Bakersfield made a nostalgic trip this fall to Kenya, where she taught in 1969 and 1970 as a Peace Corps volunteer. She went on to Southern Sudan, where she witnessed poverty and suffering. Following are edited e-mails she sent home to her family and friends.
