ghostriter - > I'm Still Kicking! -> Memorial
Memorial

For Jordan

“We’ve got forever, Baby.”
That’s what I’d so often say
So many times when you’d ask me
To stop for a while and play.
“I’m much too tired right now,
And I’ve so much more to do.
We have forever, so maybe tomorrow
I’ll do something fun with you.”

So lovingly patient, you waited
Just to spend time with me.
How many times did I let you down?
I suppose I just didn’t see
That forever can mean the future
Or the memory of yesterday.
I’d pay anything, now, to have realized
Before tragedy took you away.
Now your toys gather dust, your games sit unplayed,
Forever awaiting the boy
Who scattered their pieces, and filled every room
With clutter, and noise…and joy.

Each candle of life holds a span of time
But your light was snuffed out far too soon.
Jordan, I’d give all that remains of my life
Just to spend one more day with you.

My heart feels for you, sister.  I seem to be shedding a lot of tears this weekend, over beautiful things and over sad.

I see all the flowers and veggies we planted in the last few days, and I remember Jordan picking flowers to bring to me when he was little, and helping me plant when he grew older. I cry for missing him, and for the joy of having him with me. Our weather has been so wonderful these past days, and I know my son would have been enjoying it with me. Whenever I see snapdragons, I feel Jordan; they were his favorite.

He will always be with you - in your heart and in your soul. You will hold him again one day.
