I am posting this hoping that someone in our blog community has heard from our blog friend Sam Heath. His eloquently written blogs have not graced us for several weeks, and we not only miss his voice, but we are concerned for his well being. While I am hoping that he is off visiting somewhere having a great time, his sudden absence from the blog is unlike him. He also has not answered his email, which is also unusual. If you know a way to contact Sam other than email, please check on him and make sure he is okay, and let us know. You can also tell him his blog buddies miss him. Have a great holiday! The first thing I am going to do on this post is state, for the record, that THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT GAY ISSUES!!!! So anyone who wishes to take it that way, please take it elsewhere. The problem I have currently is the flag pictured with this post. Notice that it is in the design of the Stars and Stripes. However, for the purpose of furthering a particular cause, the red and white stripes have been changed to a rainbow-like array of different colors. Everything else is the same as our American flag. My question is, should any specific cause or group be allowed to change the American flag to suit them? I actually believe that it may be against official U.S. flag protocol, but I am not sure. Maybe they could have had a rainbow flag with a circle of stars in the center, or something like that, but in a decidedly different design than Old Glory. Many clubs and groups have their own flag, but I have never seen one that so closely and obviously patterned after the Stars and Stripes. In my opinion, no one should be allowed to change our thirteen stripes to suit their own political agenda. What do you think? Should this be okay, or am I just being picky? I would like to take a few minutes, and type a few words, to address everyone who continues to dwell on the recent election, the results thereof, and, for some, the ensuing disappointment. Now Hear This: The election is OVER. Yes, really. Proposition 8 was fairly passed by the majority in California. It is now part of our state Constitution. Once again, the public has resoundingly proclaimed that they are not ready to embrace gay marriage. GET OVER IT! Stop whining and get on with your lives! There is no reason that gay advocates should continue to browbeat Californians over this issue. Remember, Thanksgiving is near. This is the one day of the year when we are all allowed to eat, drink and be merry without guilt. On Thanksgiving, food has no calories or cholesterol, and getting tipsy on good wine is not only forgivable but acceptable. Falling asleep watching football is expected; mowing the lawn and cleaning toilets on Thanksgiving is strictly prohibited. It is considered American tradition to simply veg out, relax, and re-introduce ourselves to those relative strangers who sleep in our homes with us and occasionally walk in on us while we are in the shower. Enjoy! Have fun! Bask in the love of friends and family. Forget all this election stuff. And remember, even if you did not get your way on election day, you still have much to be thankful for. Heck, I'll even give you one for free: be thankful that you are not Barack Obama, and you are not faced with the monumental task and expectation of putting this country back on track. I truly pity the man. He has a long row to hoe. I told my husband to go get some booze last night because it is illegal to sell alcohol on election day. He told me that is horse hockey. I can't remember where I heard that, but does anyone know if this is true or is it just a myth? Or is it, maybe, that it was illegal to sell booze on election day in my state back East, but it is okay here? Your thoughts please...and go VOTE!!!! BTW, I just have to get this in...YES ON 8!
