An interesting article about the new / old marijuana users. Now these are the real evil drug addicts in America. This is why we should really keep this evil herb illegal.

Too much of anything is not good for a body. Nor is everything for everybody. I get the impression that the people interviewed smoked at home occasionally. None seemed to have a psychological dependence or habitual habit.

To describe pot as "medicinal" is like saying "medicinal aspirin." I am not convinced that marijuana cures or prevents anything. The only endorsed medicinal use I have heard of is it may alleviate discomfort and pain for people with catastrophic illnesses. Medical uses of marijuana are presumptive and should be better qualified.

My greatest concern about legalizing pot is the lack of effective controls of its sales and distribution. If the tobacco industry is an indication, pot distributors will target impressionable and susceptible teens. Marijuana advocates, distributors and lobbyists do not give a rat's tail about choice, freedom, or lifestyle. It's about the potential windfall profits. They don't care about the consequences of their product any more than booze lobbies care about drunk driving fatalities or tobacco execs care about cancer deaths. Any argument from these parties I discount as the hypocracy it is.

I am not making a judgement about smoking pot. I do think the controls of its free market access need more attention and consideration.
