Where will Joey Porter go?
Joey Porter, that outspoken linebacker for the Pittsburg Steelers who hails from Bakersfield, has been released by the Steelers.

It begs the question. Where will he go now?

I'm thinking a loudmouth would blend with the Oakland Raiders.

Where do you think Joey's talents could best be put to use?

The niners can certainly hold there own as far as all time super bowls go, but they have had no success this century.

By this century, I mean 2000 and later.

Folks also call the Niners the same thing..I am not getting in the middle of THAT argument.

Is it really that far out Dusty?

New England Patriots in this century. Made playoffs in 5 of 7 years.

2001 AFC Champs 2002 Super Bowl Champs

2002 playoffs lost to eventual world champion Broncos

2004 Super Bowl Champs

2005 Super Bowl Champs

2005 playoffs lost to eventual world champion Colts

So far, most definitely dominate team of the 21st century

In my one encounter with Joey Porter, he was an utter jerk and his wife was a rude, foul mouthed hag of hot air.   I'm not sure he's such a  great guy.

Most dominant team of this century? Thats a little far out.

They lost by a field goal in the playoffs to the most dominate team of this century, Pete. LOL

And, that doesn't really bother me because I'm not a Charger fan. Just wanna give credit where credit is due.

I had a hard time with Marty's firing too. Not that I'm a huge fan of his either, but hey, they lost 3 games by a total of 9 points with a young QB. That's hardly a bad job by the coaching.

Um Pete..I have been through both with the Chargers. The worst beating ever handed down in a SB was the Chargers and SF I think..

Marty's coaches were leaving..and with that the GM said AMF to Marty.. They have never gotten along..and the hiring of the coaches was going to cause a riff between them again. The owner was tired of interceding between the two, and obviously he was going to back his GM over the coach. Its not unheard of for coaches to get canned these days with winning records..dumb as it is. Marty hit the nail on the head when he said he left the team far better than he found it.

What really amazed me was the firing of Marty. He bugged me, but he's been improving that team every year. Just remember, it's much less painful to go out in the first round than to lose the super bowl. Trust me on this one.

"The niners can't afford Porter"

The niners have all kinds of cap room and they need a linebakcer...i could see him going there if the price is right.

The real question is, will Joey Porter now show up at the rap show he is scheduled to appear at this Saturday at the Hill House on Truxtun...i would be surprised if he shows up.

Baseball season has begun, ESPN has a game on now..THANK YOU! :)

Now now Pete..don't make me cry this early in the day..did you have to bring that up? Unlike MLB, the NFL playoffs are a one game make or break..if the team isn't playing their A game on that particular day..its curtains. Don't make me run through all the excuses I have saved up for why the Chargers sucked that fateful playoff day.

But I also feared the Chargers would get tossed in their first game..which is why I DID NOT bet on them. :)

How'd the chargers do in the playoffs anti?

The Chargers need a lot more than Joey????

Yeah 14-3 is pretty pathetic. And they were soundly beaten in their three losses, losing all three by the wide margin of a field goal.

He'd be much better off with the 7-9 49ers, who lost to the Chargers by 29.

It could be worse, he could have gone to the Raiders where they probably would have had to have him play QB too. ; )

I haven't either dusty. I just checked espn.com and all they had was that he was released. I wouldn't mind him going on the Raiders. His talent wouldn't be wasted (but that did come from an obvious Raider hater). Their defense was the shining part of their game last season. I hear they're looking at Jeff Garcia as well. The niners can't afford Porter.

Steve, your simply amazing m'dear man :P  The great off season migration has begun. Joe Horn was dumped as well, and one of the Chargers secondary coaches now works for the Cowboys. Keenan McCardell was released from my Chargers although he was decent, he was getting long in the tooth.  The Tuna wil go back to work for ESPN.

Haven't seen anything that said Porter went to the Chargers yet.

I think Joey Porter is a great talent as well as a great human being.  I think it will be like when Marcus Allen was traded to Kansas City.  Pittsburgh better watch out when it's time to play Joey Porter's new team!

The Cowboys dumped Drew Bledsoe too.

The Chargers need alot more than Joey Porter. He may as well go withe SF. His talent would be wasted as a Raider

He signed with the Chargers about 30 minutes ago.
