Technical Difficulties

FYI, our development team is aware of a problem involving signing into and out of Bakersfield.com accounts and losing blogpost and comment text, and is working on the issue as we speak.

Thanks to those who contacted us directly about the problem, and we apologize for the inconvenience.  We'll keep you posted.

If you are encountering these problems, please email me with as much detail as possible, including the Operating System and browser you were using, if you had logged in when you first got onto your computer or if you were still logged in from a previous session, what you did that resulting in the log-on prompt, any screencaptures you can make of what exactly you're seeing.  Any and all details would be helpful, because the folks working on fixing this have to be able to reproduce the problem first.

There is a way around the non-anon posting now..all you have to do is put up a comment and then immediately edit it..it removes the authors name. Wasn't sure if you were aware of that. I just tried it and it works.

Nevermind..in the Comments section it still shows the author..but not on the actual comment.

Actually, Dusty, this weird little bug is even stranger than that:  it doesn't show the author's name on edited comments only to viewers who are logged out.  If you're logged in, you should notice no difference.  Please email me if this is not the case for you.  And of course, we're working on it.

I am logged in but I can not see the author on the comment after its been edited. I have noticed it all over this morning..and just tried it myself.

On my comment above..I do not see my name attached to the comment..but I do see my name attached to it on the "Comments" page.

I've relayed your msg. to the developers working on the problem, but I'm logged in right now, and I can see your name on the comment above, and I know you've edited it b/c  your profile pic is gone (a related bug).  At any rate, it will be fixed today.

Okay, my bad, didn't realize that I can see the names b/c of my admin privileges, you're right, Dusty.  But again, the problem will be fixed today.

Guess this means gonna "Keep my little trap shut".  Not like I post much anyway.  However, if I  type a "funny", I want credit for it. ..:)

Okay y'all, that problem with comment editing resulting in the disappearance of commenters' names and photos is fixed.

(Unfortunately, looks as though comments that lost their bylines and pix during the bug will stay that way.)

Man, I missed all the fun.  So are you ready for us to try to break this release Jason?  :)

The problem today Jason is I have to log in each time I make a comment or hit refresh. My log in isn't being saved.
