Free bird
Anyone want a free bird with cage, toys, food and crushed oyster shells? I found Otis the parakeet a year ago crossing the road at the fairgrounds. I took him home in my jacket and he has whistled merry tunes in my home ever since. Unfortunately, I can't keep him anymore. He loves kissing himself in his mirror, which could mean he's ready for a friend or that he's a narcissist. I don't know how he would do around other birds, but I'm sure he could use a good preening. He's a cutie pie, but not friendly. This is not the kind of bird you can hold and snuggle with. But he does sing to you and talks to the birds outside. If you want him, he's yours. Just let me know. Awwwww, you're getting rid of Otis? I'd take him but my cat would eat him. He's vicious. I remember when you first found Otis and had to scramble to find a cage. It was meant to be that you would give him a home. Hopefully someone will be nice and find a place for him in their home. posted by

One's like "shut up charle" (his name is charlie parker,..ahem yeah i know "the bird") I hope you find a good home for him! posted by

Quick Otis update: A wonderfully nice woman named Susan has adopted my parakeet. She has recently acquired a blue parakeet named Phillip, who was in need of a friend. Hopefully the two are getting along fabulously. I imagine they are having a "gay" old time, preening each other, cuddling, singing to one another. I miss hearing Otis's cooing, but I must say I don't miss the feathers flying all over the place all the time. And I'm just overjoyed that he's not alone anymore :) posted by

Susan here - Otis is doing great! He and Phillip are really happy about the recent gay marriage law changes, as they do allot of kissing! Otis is MUCH more vocal than Phillip, and is more outgoing too. Hopefully he's teaching Phillip how to be less neurotic! Phillip is a bit bitchy towards Otis, but it's sort of that "love you - hate you" kind of bitchiness. I guess he's the fem of the relationship. Anyway, it has been a wonderful union. They spend their entire waking hours interacting. Thanks Jennifer! posted by

Oh Susan, this makes me so happy to hear! Can't wait to attend the wedding :) Thanks for the update. I can just imagine these two love birds bitching and making up -- just like some gay couples I know! Thank you so much for adopting Otis, and for the happy news!
