When will Trout's enjoy a facelift?  New coat of paint?  Clean gutters?  Oildale looks forward to your success.

Thank you, maybelline, for your kind words of support!  Much like human beings, historic landmarks must also first  focus inward when they seek true beauty - and the management at Trout's Nightclub and it's new "Blackboard Stage" have done just that!  While exterior updates are in development at this time, extensive renovation, expansion and remodeling  have already taken place over the past year (to the extent that they have been nominated for the "2007 Beautiful Bakersfield" award for commercial remodel and also for support of the art's & entertainment industries here in Bakersfield!) along with an atmospheric overhaul thanks to the $5.00 cover charge on Friday and Saturday nights.  Promoting the safety and security of their customers is something that Trout's takes VERY seriously, and escorts are now available to walk you to your vehicle in addition to the cover charge, which keeps out the random drifters and unfortunates who, while down on their luck, have in the past wandered in off the streets in search of a free drink, a handout, or merely to harass the patrons of this establishment.  This sort of behavior has deterred patronage to the extent that customers made it clear that they were fed up with being panhandled and otherwise approached by the unsavory characters that sometimes wander the streets in search of a "target". 

We hope that you will drop in sometime soon to see all that has been accomplished; and be sure to inquire anytime as to the future plans for the continuing positive changes taking place on the most significant intersection in Oildale.

You have to start somewhere.  I wish Trout's nothing but success.  Thanks for the update.  Might I suggest an American Idol type competition?  Maybe close the street down and hold the competition in the street.  The winner would receive a recording session at Buck's place up the road from you.  Now that building is in serious need of major sprucing.  Good luck.

Hellooooooooooooo Lyn, Things are slowly looking up at Trouts...I know they have been focusing on the new Blackboard side of the place, but a small amount of attention needs to {still} be taken on the older dance floor itself.. My friend messed up one of her High Heels, catching it in a small spot/hole in the floor, where a piece of wood flooring is missing...nothing real serious, but a needed simple repair...And I also know they are going to completely redo the Restrooms very soon, that will be a great change..       I used to own a Bar with my partner down in Orange Co. a few years back...We used to have several volunteers (customers) that really helped with keeping the place cleaned up, plus the outside parking area and the sweeping of gutters.. They even all came by on a Sunday and helped paint the whole place outside...We furnished all the materials and drinks, plus a nice private party afterwards...That made a real difference in the attitude of customers as well as the City Fathers..hehe...All the other bars around town had big problems with beggars of all types [both inside and outside of the Bar]... My partner said that He would not allow any type of panhandling to go on in/ or outside on the property, of our Bar, from anyone! Even the Bar maids for the music...They were allowed to play horses (roll the dice) for the music only, but no asking for money for the Music Box.. Even a customer that tried to bum a cigarette from another customer was escorted out of the bar...as we put up a sign... No Panhandling of any kind allowed...you will be 86ed... Plus he did not let Dirty/stinky people to stay inside either, We just told them to get cleaned up and they would be welcome back.  NOTHING will drive a paying customer AWAY faster than those conditions...   I do not sit at the Bar, (at Trouts) so I am not aware of people doing those kinds of things while sitting in the Dance floor area. At least on Monday nights...Senior Night!  THANKS so much for Senior night!! A lot easier going Music, probably.. :-}
