Going back to college
With Cal State Bakersfield making the move to Division I, I'll be delving into the personalities behind the teams that make up the Roadrunners' athletic department to go along with interesting tidbits that don't make it into our daily coverage. Also check in for periodic blurbs on what's going on at Bakersfield College.

Supporting a good cause
The Cal State Bakersfield men's team is participating in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Suits and Sneakers event Saturday.
All three coaches will wear sneakers during the game against Cal State Stanislaus Saturday night. The shoes will then be autographed and auctioned off.
It's a great idea to raise awareness for the American Cancer Society and the Roadrunners links to the disease run deep.
I took it upon myself to make a suggestion as to what shoe the coaches should wear. I picked the Jordan XI, which is the perfect shoe to wear with a suit. It also happens to be my favorite pair of basketball shoes.
While coach Keith Brown said style isn't an issue, the Jordan XI is the perfect shoe for this event.

This is a totally DISGUSTING fund raiser. NO WAY would I wear shoes that were previously owned. We all know about athletes foot and how easily that is spread.

Dumb Idea by the American Cancer Society.

Places like Goodwill, Discovery, Salvation Army and others sell shoes like crazy.  I'ts not hard to sanitize a shoe..and these coaches are only wearing them for a short time to support a good cause.   (no pun intended..heh)  Funny how pople will wear hand me down, borrowed or shared clothing, dishes and glasses but balk at shoes.  How many pairs of new pairs of shoes have you tried on or bought that you can be sure no one else had ever put their foot in?  Or bought and took them home only to return them?

Anything that supports cancer research or benefits the victims is ok in my book.

Another untouchable is the used comb.  People are freaky bout certain things, for no really good reason.

How dirty could a pair of new shoes get if they are only worn by a coach during the game? Besides that, I think the idea is to not wear them. Kind of like how you wouldn't play baseball with that one that Yogi Berra signed.

My mom and sister we're appalled when I tried to give them a lipstick I had found walking home from school. My first brush with ingratitude...

ROFL Robb...when I worked at the infamous WM in cosmetics I used to catch girls trying on lipstick.  I love to watch their faces when I told them that it was like kissing a strange woman.  Heh...that made them put it down in a hurry.
