I'm scratching my noggin.  Why is NOR Parks and Rec considering spending $15 million on a water park?  If it's such a great investment, you would think someone in the private sector would be scrambling to build one.  Furthermore, where is the money coming from?  Where is the water coming from?  The City has recently destroyed some pools and replaced them with sprinklers.  (Yuck)  I'm getting off track.

My noggin is still scratchy.  Guess I should pack my Head and Shoulders and head for the closest water park.  Let me know what you think.

What a shame another City pool is slated for demolition.  Just like Hart Park faded to its present state - will Jastro Park follow?  How unfortunate.  I wish our wise City Council could find a way to keep a pool.

Couldn't the repair fees be disguised as a tax to help recharge the groundwater aquifer?  You think the savings from teaching kids to swim rather than tragically drowning and then their families sue the City could pay for the repairs.

Bring back the WPA for welfare recipients.

  • Our infrastructure would get much needed repairs.
  • People would learn a skill and gain pride in their work.
  • The welfare roll might decline.

Teach them to fish instead of feeding them fish.

Again - what a shame.  At least I have fond memories

A newsclip regarding the death of a dear 5 month old in Ridgecrest at the hands of the mother's "boyfriend" brought to mind what tom cats will do...eat the young they didn't father.

Why, oh why, do single mothers trust their precious children to the care of their "boyfriends"?   What a tragedy.

What a shame that there is no shame.  Each new year, the first baby of the year receives an article announcing the birth.  Usually, the parents (if the father is available) are unwed.  To notice even more, the parents typically are hispanic and are "undocumented".  The 2008 article is no exception.  Babies are wonderful and joyous gifts.  Unfortunately, it looks like an uphill battle for this little guy.
