Fair is Fair
I do not like Hillary Clinton. I disagree with 99.99% of everything that falls from her megalomaniac driven piehole. I believe she is a socialist who would like to see everyone(with the exception of her and her family)in America in the same boat. Her ideas genuinely frighten me as do most short sighted ideas in any arena. She has proven herself to be a liar, or at the very least, an imbellisher, and a hypocrite not to mention wielding double standards like a bronze shield. Facts are an afterthought to her. Truth is a trivial matter better left to those of less importance. She is arrogant and condescending and I think she would be a disaster that would make the Carter and Dubya administrations look like a walk in the park. That being said, she is getting boned by the media and the Obama camp. There was a time, very recently, that I was content to sit back and let her and Obama drive each other into the dirt and laugh all the way to the poll booth in November, laugh as I waited in the line to get to the Republican side of the aisle to vote for McCain, on whom I am not all that hot, but at least he could still stand, then chuckle as I cast my vote. But fair is fair and crap is crap no matter who is under the pile, and Hillary is definately under the pile right now. There was a time when I thought Obama was fresh and invigorating, even though I despised his politics and would never vote for anyone that liberal. I thought he was different and really had a new way of looking at things. I was wrong. Dead wrong. He is a political hack of stupendous proportions, just like all the rest of the Beltway Buttholes. He has taken an elitist approach to his campaign in more ways than one, but one is all I will focus on in this piece and that one thing is his demanding that anything HE decides is off limits should actually be off limits. His pastor, his wife, his middle name, etc. Now he(along with many other Hillary haters in the media and Washington) has decided what facts on the past can and cannot be used. In this case, RFK. I listened to the Hillary clip and what I heard was her pointing out that it was JUNE that the race should be focused on. She didn't invoke RFK's assasination in a way I saw, even remotely, that was untoward or self serving. She brought it up as a reference to JUNE. That is a month, not a sacred cow. She said it in the same sentence in which she invoked the name of her Husband to bring attention to the fact that JUNE is the California primary and that was when Bill locked up the delegates he needed. That it happened in the same month in the same primary in which RFK was assasinated was the point, not that people should think of her when they think of RFK. I saw Kieth Olberman's tirade on the clip and had to laugh(he needs to go back to ESPN, but they wouldn't have anything to do with him for sure these days), but when I saw that the entire media had taken that ball and was running out of the stadium with it, I was sad and mad. It is obvious to even the most uninformed politico now that the media has taken sides in this primary fight. They have been doing it for a hundred years in general elections, but now they are picking sides within sides in the primaries and they aren't even trying to hide it! I used to think that Hillary's was the most dangerous position, but Obama is starting to look, more and more, like a facist and the media are eating it up in their bid to squash Hillary, who was their sweetheart during her runs for the Senate. They say you should never turn your back on a tail wagging dog and I say Hillary is learning that lesson the hard way now. She has won the popular vote and all the big states in her party's primaries and will still likley lose the bid for the nomination through what I see as crap. After all her ballyhooing in the 90's about conspiracies, maybe this time she really is in the middle of one! I still don't think either of the democrats have a chance at actually winning in November, but as I said..Fair is Fair and if I have to defend someone with whom I disagree to point that out, I will..and I have. 88 comments from 18 users

Nonsense. She came in second. Nothing shameful in that--she picked the wrong campaign team, who picked the wrong campaign strategy, and it cost her the nomination. She came in a respectable second in votes, delegates, and states won under the rules she agreed to. . At this point any over-the-top outrage delivered her way (and not by me; I feel it's counterproductive at best) is triggered by the over-the-top statements of her defeated campaign crew. . The foofurah over the assassination comment misses the point, I think, although it was an incredibly moronic thing to say in a year when assassination is a very real threat to the front-runner. She's comparing apples and oranges to go back to 1968 or 1992 and say that she'd have a chance if it were one of those years. It's not June 1968, or June 1992, it's June 2008 and she's got no chance of overcoming the 200-delegate lead Obama has at this point. She'd have a chance if Obama were subject to the Dred Scot decision, but that ain't happening either. The ruling today that no more than half the Florida and Michigan delegations will count is yet another blow to the deceased equine her campaign has turned into, as is the re-dismissal of her lawsuit in Florida. . The media has rightly moved on to the Obama-vs-Mc894 campaign--even the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy which ignores Mc894's lobbying connections and "senior moments." posted by

Well..She has done so many moronic things and made so many moronic statements in his campaign that it gets hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. I heard so many liberals whine about the popular vote in the last two elections I was tempted to buy them some cheese to go along with it. If the media and polls are to be believed, she had more votes, in number, than Obama and that is what the popular vote means. Remember, like you said after the last two presidentials. So that doesn't carry the same weight in primaries? Hmmm..guess she's not the only one utilizing double standards. I must have missed the cleverness behind the Mc894 comment, but that's OK. I am certain I would have missed the clever part of it. You can call him what you like, but I will be calling him "Mr. President" come January. I don't care much for that either, but whaddayagonnado? posted by

For what it's worth, Clinton's forces are marching in an organized demonstration to the rules committee meeting Saturday. Obama's specifically requested that his supporters *NOT* do that. . He's Mark Twain's prototypical definition of an "ethical man"--"a Christian holding four aces." What Clinton's looking for is Ambrose Bierce's definition of a "miracle"--"an act or event out of the order of nature and unaccountable, as beating a normal hand of four kings and an ace with four aces and a king.”

Mark, if you call McCain "Mister President" come January, won't that make for a great deal of confusion when Obama's inaugurated? . Again, the arbiter of "popular votes" is RealClearPolitics. They show Obama ahead unless you want to pull the kind of shenanigans Republicans generally do. posted by

Moto, McCain finished 894th out of 899 in his class at the Naval Academy. In the latest Gallup poll, he leads Obama 46%-42%. Hillary is not through yet. She's taking it to the convention, and there's still a ways to go before then. Wait and see what happens. posted by

No, Nancy. My response was one of disappointment over the continual misrepresentation of what the two Democratic candidates stand for. To call these two candidates pejorative names without one cogent fact or shred of argumentative evidence is dishonest. I find many of Mark's posts interesting reading, but this was just another angry rant from someone who hasn't bothered to do any homework on the issues. Also, I did not attack Mark personally, but only his agrument process and statements. If people are going to continually post uninformed opinions I'm going to challenge them on this blog site. When people on the left post political issue material on this site there are usually facts and links of evidence and statistical data in support of the argument or position. Calling a candidate an idiot or "Beltway Butthole" without any reason other than anger is childish and divisive where there can be no middle ground or compromise. My guess is that Mark knew what type of response he was going to get by posting his rant. posted by

Call Hillary a socialist, but McCain would sell off the American flag star by star and stripe by stripe. He'd turn his back on his crippled wife for a richer, younger woman, or at least he did once. McCain would be a socialist in a second if he thought it would help him in the polls. He has no compass and just drifts on the hot air of lobbyists and (as Mark so colorfully says) "beltway buttholes". His biggest problem right now is that he has to pander to the 20% that make up the far right while not going so far out that he loses all the independant support. posted by

McCain would be a socialist in a second if he thought it would help him in the polls For years McCain has been a vocal supporter of the Yucca Mountain nuclear repository. Two days ago he gave a speech in Colorado against the Yucca Mountain repository. Guess where he was campaigning yesterday? That's right, Nevada. An important state for him to win and where the citizens of the state are also against the Yucca Mountain repository. http://www.politickernv.com...

Say what you like, but BOTH the Clintons have made comments in the past that have led me to believe that they would like to see a classless society where everyone gives to everyone else so that no one has a foot up on anyone else. That is socialism. Obamas remark about people cradling their Bibles and guns(or however he put it) was a straight up act of condescention(can I say that here?)and that is an elitist attitude.. You don't like me calling a politician a political hack? And what, pray tell, name did I call Hillary? Don't bag on me for namecalling when I did no such thing. I don't see you bagging RF and the rest of the lefties here for the names THEY call republicans..Again with the liberal double standards. Kinda like Obama wanting to say what HE likes, but not wanting anyone to say anything about him. MY family isn't out stumping for me and making themslevs fodder for public scrutiny and if they were, well the mudslinging goes with the terriroy. I don't hear anone else whining about it. Jonburns, RF and all the rest of the academic wonders..where did YOU finish in your class at Harvard, Yale or B.C.? What were you doing to serve your country while John McCain was bunked at the Hanoi Hilton? I have already said I am not a big fan of McCain and his policies and ideas, but I respect what he has accomplished. Graduating the Naval Academy or any fine institution of higher learning anywhere in your class in nothing to be scoffed at. So go ahead, make fun of McCain for not being the Valedictorian at Annapolis, then dog me for speaking MY mind on what I see and hear others say and do. I am starting to like the fact that you all think your opinions are somehow more valid than mine! And we'll see about the popular votes(I dont waste my time digging up website numbers, I just go by what the media has to say)come the election..My e-mail is still empty. posted by

Me, Mark? I finished near the top of my class in a school roughly equivalent to Mc894's in academic standing. I don't think his not being valedictorian is relevant (there's only one per class) but finishing in the bottom one percent is significant. If you think it's elitist for me to want someone smarter than average to run the world's most complicated country, so be it. Which part of his wartime experience more qualified him for the presidency--was it losing aircraft or surrendering to the enemy? It would be entirely fair of me to label McCain as a socialist due to his long-term membership in the country's largest socialist organization. More important, he's George W. Bush writ small: a guy who would've washed out long ago if his hadn't been for who his father was, who never *WAS* that impressive intellectually, and who fundamentally either misunderstands or worse mischaracterizes the fiasco in Iraq and the reasons why the economy is floundering--and wants to do more of the same. . I don't think my opinion is more valid than yours--I just think you're wrong and based on bad information. As for your "going with what the media says," you're cherry-picking your numbers no less than I am. The difference is that I know the source of my numbers, and you don't know the ultimate derivation of yours. posted by

The principal called my mother in to talk to her about it. Yeah it warranted a personal call from the principal. So what! Almost everyone on these blogs is above average intelligence. Chico , Nancy, Mark, Cat, Sam, Sage, Murphy, Ron, and 99% of everyone else. Some of these people are way above average intelligence. But, as I said before, IQ means squat. And some of the dumbest people in America will be voting for the guy who finished nearly last in his class. Know what? I'd take almost any of the bloggers on this site ahead of Mc894. . I'm sure you realize that Mark (and Rush, and the whole gang) don't give two figs about how Senator Clinton was treated. They just want the weaker of the two candidates to be nominated in November, and if they can't have that, they want the stronger candidate hamstrung. Pretending to support Senator Clinton, even to the extent of committing voter fraud to cross over and vote for her, is their way of messing with us. I'm well aware that very intelligent people do dumb things. Senator Clinton, for example, hired Mark Penn. posted by
