It ain't so bad
August 3rd marked the death of my PC. Well, it may not be dead, but it seems to be in a chronic vegetative state! It won't do anything at all, and at this time, I haven't the money to mess with it. What, with my twso youngest daughters birthdays next week as well as back to school expenses on top of all the regular financial headaches, it's just not a priority. The first couple of days I went into DT's over it, but with the occasional fix I get using my work PC, I get on well enough. I also have a bajillion hours of the Olympics on DVR to keep me distracted and I am enjoying reading more often also, not to mention getting to bed at a decent hour. I went without the internet for the first 38 years of my life and did just fine, so I am certain I will survive. It's an inconvenience, but not a life altering event. I do miss being able to run in and post a blog and being able to look something up quickly, but I'll make through that too. It's kind of a pain, but it ain't bad. See you all regularly ASAP.... 9 comments from 9 users

Make your next computer a Mac. You won't be disappointed. I saw a commercial for this PC laptop that had a "recovery button" that just made me crack up. posted by

Chronic vegetative state? Pull the plug. If Randall Terry shows up at your front door, introduce him to a pool cue... posted by

We've had chronic problems with our internet in the past. You find that you can suddenly get everything done since you can't get on the computer anymore. We have an HP, no problems to report. We customized our hard drive, which got kinda pricey, but this is the fastest computer (internet and game-wise) I've ever seen. The DVD player wouldn't work, though, so we had to buy another one. posted by

Yeah, remember when we just wondered about things? I think I'd go NUTS if i couldn't have the computer for more than a week. I recently went to visit my Auntie in MN and she still has dial up. I wanted to stick and icepick in my eye while waiting for the pages to load. I just decided to live without it while I was there, it was less aggravation. And I'm so feeling you with regards to back to school expenses. It just gets to be more and more every year. posted by

Heh, I only use the computer occasionally myself now. I have the web on my phone. I don't wake up to check my email yet, but I'm working on it. posted by
