I'll relent..Just a little

I have been boycotting Bank of America since they decided to hand out credit cards to undocumented persons. It was a ridiculous idea ideastically(to me anyway)but actually a sound business move well worth the risk to BofA. I'm no financial genius(just have a peek at my bank account), but I believe they figured that the percentage of people who might never repay the $500(the card limit)and those who would pay, at least some of it back, measured against the business they would aquire by pandering to the documented persons(let's be honest, 99% of undocumented persons are Mexicans or Central Americans)who may then move to Bof A from WaMu or whoever they banked with.  Whatever, I was still pissed.

I see now that BofA will modify thousands of its mortgage loans to help people keep their homes in the face of todays crisis. Some will have principal slashed, others will have to pay only interest for ten years and so on. I like it. Kind of reminds of John Deere not repossesing one piece of farm equipment during the depression. Granted, it was a marketing technique, but it worked. Many farmers will pay more for a Deere to remain laoyal to a company that was loyal to them. I'm sure BofA is emplying the same strategy and I am sure it will pay off.

I still won't bank with or engage in financial business with BofA(for other reasons), but maybe i'll start using their ATM's again

I feel generally the same way about BofA but am glad to hear this about mortgages.

Another interesting mortgage development (also vaguely reminiscent of the Depression):

Well, we're in such financial straights that Mexicans aren't gonna come here anymore. (And of course, nothing bad about the state of America is George's fault.)

Guatemala is the new land of milk and honey!!!!

I despise Wachovia for the way they treated some of my soldiers while I was at Fort Hood and Fort Gordon. I'll never bank with them and I wish them nothing but financial ruin. They are predators on bases trying to get young Privates right out of high school to set up their Direct Deposit accounts with them. The downside is if those soldiers want to open up a new bank account they require you to keep your account open (with a minimum) for at least three months and... they charge a fee of 10 bucks a month! Even if you offer to pay three months worth of fees to close the account, they wont let you. This is one of the few reasons I'm convinced there is no such thing as an American company. They are loyal to the green and I don't mean Army green unless it's the dead presidents in your pocket.

 undocumented persons

It's okay, you can say it...ILLEGAL ALIENS. And after the hell BofA put us through last year (see blog) I wouldn't ever do business with them again. It does not matter what they say they are doing to "help" the housing crisis and folks who are on the edge of foreclosure. BofA is not some charitable organization. They are in it for the money and NOTHING more.

Ah, if only my loan were through Bank of America.

Sadness has fallen upon me.

They oughta take back the whole 85 billion after those bastards treated themselves to a vacation with 600 dollar rooms, spa services, and golf outings at taxpayers expense. One of my biggest irks is all the write offs these corksucking bastages get for 'entertaining".

moto - your assumption that 99% of undocumented persons (illegal aliens) are from Mexico/Central & South America is extremely biased - the number is more like 60%.  There are millions of Europeans, Asians and Africans who are undocumented illegals.  In fact, I was listening to NPR not too long ago and heard a South African (caucasian) man speak about how easy it has been for him to mesh into American society, even though he's technically an illegal alien.

As far as Bank of America is concerned, I wonder what the statistics are for those illegals who have been given these credit cards.  I wouldn't be surprised if the reality is that more of the illegals make their monthly payments on time than the rest of America.  I don't agree with this decision by BofA, and I honestly didn't realize this was happening (I do bank with them), but I'm not going to stop banking with them just yet.  As usual, I like to wait and see what the verdict is before I come to a judgement.

Well, we're in such financial straights that Mexicans aren't gonna come here anymore

Actually, Mexico has already seen a sharp decrease in the amount of money coming into their country.  Their economy is suffering just as bad, if not worse than ours.

let's be honest, 99% of undocumented persons are Mexicans or Central Americans

Correction, about 75% of all undocumented immigrants are Mexican or Latin American.  If you go to San Francisco there are more undocumented Chinese immigrants than they're Mexicans....

It wasn't an assumption, it was just a number i tossed out there.Like the Direct TV commercial said..50% of statistics are made up on the spot half the time... OK..75%..The point is that the vast majority are from the south, and I don't mean South Africa. I would wager that the vast majority of Europeans and what not who come here illegally aren't people who would need a $500 credit card.

Ghost..please forgive my momentary lapse intp PC speak.

Anti..Love the Roman Maroni cusswords!

Everyone...

A: Pay him for the pizza!

BOA and Wells Fargo and going to end up owning the banking industry.  We need to look at how they handled loans during the last 5 years and make those practices standard for all banks and savings and loan companies.
