My Pie! She scores!

When my 16 year old daughter, Camilla, was born, I began calling her my "Punkin Pie". That became "Pie" after a time, and is still my pet name for her.  Last year, as a sophomore at Centennial, she began have some real difficulties with school. Not the work, but the school. I ended up putting her in Independent study and she started feeling better about things.

It was mostly about the usual things that many kids suffer at school. Bullies, trash talkers, you know, those people who are so insecure thay have to make fun of others tgo justify their own inadquacies.

Well, this year she informed me that she had overcome her issues with dealing with other people and was not interested in continuing independent studies, and was actually looking forward to getting back to school.

She has been in a great mood this school year and very positive. A couple of weeks ago she started asking about her report card. Whether or not I had received it. She said she was pretty excited about it. I got it today, and I see why she wanted to share it. She made the honor roll for the first time.

That may not seem like a big deal to some parents or students, but knowing the problems she dealt with and overcame in the last few years, it is a VERY big deal to us. She is living proof that you can make lemonade from the lemons life gives you and come out on top of it all.

I am so very proud of her. I just wanted to share it.

I am SO tickled about this.  Of all the family, she reminds me more of myself than anyone.  For several reasons.

YAYYYYY Pie, you go girl !

Oh Moto, that is so super! Bless her heart!  You said a lot about your daughter, but also remember, you all as a family supported her and that counts for a lot of our children's' success.  Yes, they have to do the work themselves but knowing you and Jen and Nancy I know "Pie" had a ton of family support.

Thanks for sharing Mark!  I was bragging on my daughter earlier this week ( I almost felt a little arrogant) now I know it was just parental pride.  So nice to hear another success story!   Way to go Pie!

I have to qualify here.  When I said she reminds me of me at that age I sure didn't mean academically.  I don't thing I EVER made the honor roll.  More along the lines of size.  We're the shorties in the family for one thing.

And it's NEVER arrogant to brag on your kids..it's expected.  :-)

It's great to hear the success stories.  And Nancy is right, it isn't arrogant to brag on the kids when they do things right, it's bad parenting not to IMO.  This also shows how Pie is going to be able to make the adult decisions that will shoot her toward success.  See Dad she knew what she was talking about.  Good for her.

The first blog I opened today was a positive one, yeah, it's going to be a good day.
