Rev. Toliver

I was saddened to hear the news today of Rev. Toliver's passing.  Although I never attended his church, I spent many Sunday mornings watching the services on television.  I always enjoyed his messages.  My favorite part was always the choir during worship.  I loved watching them sing and enjoy what they were doing.  Although I never met him, I feel like I knew him.  I am truly sorry for this loss to the congregation.  Celebrate his life.  He has moved on to his new life!

He was one of the few men I have known that I admired without reservation. His sincerity in his simple Gospel message was a rare trait and Bakersfield has lost a shining beacon of hope and a truly great man of God.

Wow. I am sad to hear of his passing. Rev. Tolliver was a very good person and I grew up in his church. I grew up with his grandchildren and will keep them as well as the rest of the family in my prayers.

Sorry I never met him.  It sounds like Bakersfield has lost a great man.

Very sorry to hear of his passing. I knew his son David and my condolences are to you and your family.

My Sunday Mornings will never be the same.  What a speaker Mr. Toliver was.  I hope St. John's will continue on in his tradition.  My heart goes out to the Toliver family.  This pillar of our community will be missed!

Reverend Toliver was in the truest sense a Man of God.   My 1st son-in-law attended his church when he married my my daughter, and Reverend Toliver officiated.  When he spoke, you knew God was present.  God Bless him, his family and his congregation.  If they find someone able to fill half his pulpit, they should do just fine.
