Eureka!
An epiphany, (sic) just occured to me. I know it's asking too much, but, if the people of B town would stop listening to Rush, Oriely, Hannity, Inga. etc, they might stop hating. After all that is what they are being for. To create discord. for what reason, I do not know.

So what you are saying is that anybody that disagrees with you or has a different point of view is a hate monger ?

I listen to talk radio about a half hour or so about 3 days a week. During commute time when I'm not riding with a car pool buddy. I don't consider myself a hater and I consider myself completely competant to hear sides and make my own decision. I'll admit that sometimes I'll hear something that makes me take a second look but it doesn't change my basic beliefs. The conservative talk radio dissenters make it sound like if Rush or Hannity told us to jump off that lemming cliff we'd be heading for the edge. As I've brought up before...did it not occur to some of you non conservatives that we might be listening because the HOSTS agree with OUR thinking..and that we are not influenced by them? With all due respect to Tom, if I listened to much liberal talk I'd be thinking "You're GOT to be kidding"..and laugh myself? (kinda sorta like I do on here) posted by

Mark Levine? Liberal? You sure about that Roy? He's a buddy of Laura Ingraham. I don't think I've ever heard him say anything liberal but then I can't listen long because he really is a hate talk kinda guy. Besides..I can't handle his voice.

I did listen to Rush a long time ago.I have a brother who has lived in Kentuckey, for thirty yrs. When ever we talk,he tells me how wonderful Bush is. And how stupid I am for falking agains't the war. He has two sons in the army, when I ask him what if they got killed,, He yells "they died for their country" I asked his 'wife' where he got his opinions, She said Rush L,

Honestly..do you believe Rush has the power to make a man feel his son's would not have died in vain? I listen to whoever is talking about something interesting at the time. I switch stations til I find it and if I don't, I turn the radio off or put in a book on tape. And nope, I don't listen to music very often. I have a couple of CD's a freind made for me and I listen to them at times but I'm a person who likes to talk back to the radio. Hmmmmm..I guess tha't real "talk radio." Besides. It keeps me from talking to myself which my therapist tells me is a bad thing politically because I'll probably answer myself and what does that gain? I kinda like it because that way I always get the answers I want. But on the other hand....... "If you do all the talking, you only learn what you already know." posted by

Bakersfield, overall, is a Conservative city. Why would a station, who is in it to make money, carry something their audiences wouldn't listen to? How many actual Liberals listen to conservative talk radio with an open mind? And how long would the conservative talk radio shows stay on the air if they depended on Liberals for their listener base? posted by

Nancy, it's something like the problem faced by science-fiction writers these days. Bookstores are allocating less and less shelf space to sf books. Hence, fewer and fewer people are buying it. Which justifies less and less space being allocated to it... When those "conservative" talk shows debuted they were heavily subsidized because they were politically useful. . At least there's still Countdown and the new Rachael Maddow show... :) posted by

With every other type of programming, there is material made available to most every market niche of note. There is programming targeted for specific sports, fishing, music, and so forth. Bakersfield may generally like country music. Hip-hop fans are a minority, yet we still have hip-hop FM stations. Why should political programming be approached with a winner take all mentality, where liberals get nothing at all because conservatives are a majority? Why not one program for the liberal market that, while small, is substantial enough to take into consideration ? posted by
