noholdsbarred - > No holds barred -> When e-mail goes bad
When e-mail goes bad
So I'm sitting here trying to figure out my Sunday column.

I have most of the reporting done. I know my angle and I have it started.

But my e-mail is out. Has been for about 2 hours.

You'd think that would free me up to write like crazy without distraction.

I can't. I'm bereft without it!

I've never been one of those e-mail haters. But I never thought I was so hooked on it!

It's like my Oxycontin or something.

I need a 12-step program to get over my e-mail.

How pathetic is that?

What did we ever do before this contraption came along with it's E-Mail and other bells and whistles.  Dependency is an awful thing to behold.

I carried a big old pager, which displayed only numbers, and a pocket full of dimes, so I could return the page.

Didn't we just run a wire story recently about turning off your email at work for short periods in order to increase face-to-face communication?  (Hmmm, maybe that wasn't an outage after all...)  ;)
