... his supporters wouldn't have been blessed with having the most extreme pro-abortion candidate elected to the White House. Guess he made sure not to be reminded of that discomforting fact by not having any Catholic clergy present during his inauguration.

Isn't it just peachy that ol' George Bush had folks like Obama in mind when he proclaimed Jan. 18 a special day as one of his last acts in office?

How indeed so fortunate Obama is to be in position to defend the Constitution that declares the "right to life," among other things, having the media as his lap dog and the teeming masses singing his praises, even an old fart as one of my favorite bloggers tells it:

Last night while returning from the store I was flipping across the radio dial when I heard a dee jay on an oldies station (the type my parents might listen to) tell the radio listeners that he was so excited about the impending Obama presidency that he couldn't keep quiet any longer. "I hope the Congress does everything he wants and approves everything he ask for." This coming from a guy who sounded as if he was Les Nessman (the old WKRP news anchor.) This is really getting over the top when this sort of thing happens, not on the local alternative station but on the local oldies station!

Oh, yes, that's my gal. And kudos to John Ziegler for slapping the glasses off the nose of that pretentious Charles Gibson and telling it like it is:

"I also know, with moral certitude, that the media assassination of her, her character and family, was one of the greatest public injustices of our time and that I’m totally justified in devoting my life to correcting the historical record in my forthcoming film, “Media Malpractice… How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Smeared.”

How edifying it is to read about a Catholic teacher filing a federal lawsuit against two teachers' unions over the fact that her compulsory union fees are used to promote abortion and homosexuality in violation of her religious faith.

The elections had three or four unions or labor organizations sending mailers to me that pushed nothing but the godless and radical agenda of the liberal pols and their lackeys, prompting me to tear them into little bitty pieces to mail back to them along with a letter to excoriate them and demand that they remove me from their mailing lists.

Loved the part about how it makes no sense for teachers to threaten their own livelihood by supporting the abortion of children that'd have been their pupils. Perhaps they need to add "Economics for Dummies" to their textbook collection.

A doff of the cap to the Matthew Archbold for posting the following at Creative Minority Report:

Hi! Satan here. 2008 is gone and I'm quite frankly feeling a little sad about it. I don't expect sympathy but looking back at the past year I'm stunned how productive I was and how great things went. I haven't had this good of a year since...I can't remember when.

First, the American election couldn't have gone better. Barack Obama. Wow! One of the most religious countries (nominally anyway, heh heh) in the world just elected a guy who said he didn't want his daughter "punished with a baby." Folks, hehehe, Americans just elected a President who boasted that he would push for the killing of his own grandchild and nobody even cared. I mean, this guy bragged that he would lift any and all restrictions on abortions and America yawned. Now, I don't mean to get all Darth Vader here by my victory is just about complete. It's not the law I'm interested in. It's all those men and women who are going to find it so easy to procure an abortion even though they secretly know that it's wrong. That's where I really make my bones.

Then you got my girl Oprah doing her thing with The Secret and all my New Age garbage. Now, I'm not going to get into all the contracts I've got with her but boy is she useful. And as much as she does for me I can't help but keep messing with her by sending her authors who make up their books. I don't know. I just can't help it. You can't trust me. I even let my boy OJ go to jail.

And then there's the whole gay marriage thing. Yeah, you might consider that whole California referendum thing a defeat for me but is there really one of you who thinks that gay marriage isn't the next hot thing. I've successfully labeled it a "civil rights" issue and I'm using the "virtue" of compassion against religious people. I would say I love irony if I was capable of love but using compassion against religion was a master stroke.

But all in all, 2008 was a great year for me. I'll always look back fondly on it. We had the man who had a baby publicized like it was perfectly wonderful. China keeps blocking any UN resolutions to do any thing about Darfur and the world blusters on and on. Russia invaded Georgia and the world blustered some more. I've got Iran almost completing their nukes while the world stands by and blusters and blusters.

I made the Mets lose again on the last day of the season. I've done this three years in a row and each time their stupid fans are surprised. Priceless. And hey, pirates are back! That can't be underestimated. Those are my peeps! I've got Israel and Palestine at war. I essentially destroyed the reputation of the only pro-life candidate in the election this November in Sarah Palin. We mocked her every step of the way and muddied her reputation with the help of my friends in the media. What was she thinking having that Down's Syndrome baby? How did she not think that we had to destroy her. Does anybody realize what kind of example she could set if I let her rise to power?

So all in all 2008 was a very very good year. This recession has me a little worried about 2009. When things get bad, people have a tendency to do kind things for each other and help each other. I hate that. But all in all the wind was at my back in 2008. I'm going to miss it.

This article offers one reason why I'd be more sweet on Sarah over Caroline any day (from National Review Online's "The Corner," with emphases in bold mine):

A Media Morality Tale   [Victor Davis Hanson]

The putative Caroline Kennedy candidacy for senator has had the odd effect of reopening the media can of worms treatment of Gov. Palin. Compared to Sarah Palin's almost immediate immersion into crowds and public speaking, Kennedy seems like a deer in the headlights before the media that is either ignored or asked to submit written questions. Palin was a natural; Kennedy can't finish a single sentence without "You know" or "I mean." Palin's family saga and daily grind were populist to the core; Kennedy is a creature of a few blocks' radius in Manhattan and Martha's Vineyard.

Outsider and lower-middle-class Palin toughed it out in Wasilla for years of politicking on a 16-year slog through Alaskan old-boy politics; Caroline Kennedy in regal fashion apparently skipped voting in about half of New York elections, and has never run for anything.

Reporters swarmed over Palin's pregnancies, and her wardrobe, but apparently took on face value that Caroline's fluff books were really a sign of either erudition or scholarship.

Conservative Palin endured liberal Charlie Gibson's glasses-on-the nose pretentiousness, and Katie Couric's attack-dog questions; insider Kennedy I doubt will meet with either, much less sit down with a hostile questioner like a Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly. Her friendly New York Times "interview" proved an embarrassment—rarely have so many words been spoken with so little content.

But, no, the real embarrassment proves to be the media itself that apparently can't see this weird unfolding self-incriminating morality tale: It is not just that Palin is conservative, Kennedy politically-correct (e.g., pro-abortion, gun control, gay marriage, etc), or Palin a newcomer to public attention, Kennedy a celebrity since childhood. Rather it is the aristocratic value system of most NY-DC journalists themselves who apparently still assume that old money, status, and an Ivy-League pedigree are reliable barometers of talent and sobriety, suggesting that the upper-East Side Kennedy's public ineptness is an aberration, a bad day, a minor distraction, while Palin's charisma and ease are superficial and a natural reflection of her Idaho sports journalism degree.

A few generations ago, Democrats would have opposed Palin but appreciated her blue-collar story, and applauded a working mom who out-politicked entrenched and richer male elites. But now the new aristocratic liberalism has adopted the values of the old silk-stocking Republicans of the 1950s—and so zombie-like worship rather than question entitlement.

Another reason comes from a Wall Street Journal piece titled "How Support for Abortion Became Kennedy Dogma" that shows why I consider Sarah to be more "Catholic" than Caroline, whose family took a nasty detour left from the narrow and straight path to Christ to one that is wide and easy but leads to ruin of souls: http://online.wsj.com/artic...
