Poor Anthony Flew

Like Blaise Pascal, a valuable thinker who did important work before his decline, whose mistakes are seized upon and misrepresented by folks who most likely don't understand them in the first place.  Flew's "conversion" cited by religious cowards does *NOT* support anything like organized Christianity.

Posting this separate blog because *SOMEONE* has locked me out of commenting due to his personally shaky faith, and shakier grasp of what Flew actually said, and why.

It's my biting wit backed by the facts, learnem.  Some folks just can't respond except by the fingers-in-ears, "LalalalaIcan'thearyou" technique.

"Dude" doesn't know how appropriate it was that he posted on April Fool's Day.  "Dude" got punk'd.

I like this one:  :)

Blaise Pascal is one of my heroes. I don't know the genesis (pun intended) of this particular blog post, Random Factor, but wanted to just check in with my support of conscious thought.

Wanna hear a funny one? When I saw the title to this post, my first thought was "Where did Poor Anthony fly to?"

I must have really missed something!

Blaise Pascal is one of my heroes.

Did some excellent work but declined in his later years (don't we all?) and put out the famous "Pascal's Wager"  fallacious argument in favor of believing in a god.

my support of conscious thought.

Best kind. :)

I am sorry Rf did my post threaten your shaky faith?  P.S. Happy April fools day;)

I have no religious faith, Buffoo.  I'm an atheist, remember?  Despite your fevered imagination, that's *NOT* a religious belief, but an absence of one.

Happy AFD to you.  The joke, as always, was on you.

Off topic, random, but where do you get "buffoo"? I have seen you call him that so many times. Just curious.

posted by Wayfarer on Apr 2, 2009 at 06:16 PM

I will answer that one Ghost.  When I originally started posting blogs here, I did under the name of buffoo.  Which is a Greek word that means " a small witless bird."  I used this to remind myself that even at times I think I know everything; the truth is I really don't.  However in my original postings under buffoo, I gave a e-mail address that would constantly ping when someone would comment on my blogs.  People like Random would make silly comments 20 times a day.  This of course, resulted in my In box being spammed with nuisance and a waste of a lot of my time.  So I abandoned the buffoo label and created two new persona's.  One is Wayfarer in which I discuss anything and the other is Sojourner 7 which I use to educate people about Orthodox Christianity.  Where most people adjusted and out of politeness, call me sojourner or wayfarer according to which blog they are commenting on.  Random still has a habit of trying to demonize people who disagree with him and still calls me buffoo, because according to his mind it means buffoon.  Good question though, it will be interesting to see his own rationalization for it;)

I call him Buffoo because it was the first of his three personas he used here.   Many folks online use sockpuppets instead of supporters; I continued with that one to remind folks it's all the same person.

(I did, for a time, have another posting ID here that I used so that my silly avatar wouldn't show up on those postings.  Haven't used in quite a while as the original reason for using it became moot.)

I don't demonize people--I let them demonize themselves, as they believe in silly superstitions like god and demons and I don't.
