Why, Buffoo, *I* check Snopes every time I get something in e-mail that sounds "too true to be good." And you should, too, before passing along incorrect information. Not that you have a problem doing *THAT*...

The term ‘nit picker’ was likely coined in the 1950’s, but had it’s roots in the chore of spending ample time seeking to remove louse larva (nits) from the head. Lice themselves are very small, but the larva are much smaller and less detectable. Today the term ‘nit picker’ indicates someone who constantly badgers other people over the most miniscule event . Also see micromanage, and/or annoying. posted by

Sioux, Do you think it's wrong for a christian to utter words in prayer about those who are poor, insinuating moral deficiencies in those utterances? --virgil posted by

The updated prayer left out the pope's comments on using condoms and "secular thought" being the "common enemy" of the church and Islam. Also left out Sarah Palin's endorsement of the war in Iraq as part of "God's plan." Makes me want to sing, "Gimmee That Old Time Religion." posted by

It's amazing to me how people simply read something, take it for granted that it is true because it jives with what they want to hear, but don't research the voracity of it. I guess that IS the difference between faith and science. posted by

LOL. That's what happens when you don't do spell check so close to lunch. That's okay RF, when I was a young kid I used to say I was ambivalent because I could dribble a basketball with my left hand. Well! Maybe it was because I couldn't DECIDE which way to dribble dammit! posted by
