Latest failed bank was run on "Christian" principles (like greed.)

CEO Steve Skow earned $1.8 million that year, while senior lender and executive vice president Doug Ballard earned $847,222. A typical community bank CEO, banking consultants said, earn roughly $300,000 per year.

OT, but McBush's new slogan, "America First," sounds like another bank that should be on the FDIC watch list...

During his visit to the United States the Pope met with President Clinton. Instead of just an hour as scheduled, the meeting went on for two days. Finally, a weary President Clinton emerged to face the waiting news media. The President was smiling and announced the summit was a resounding success. He said he and the Pope agreed on 80% of the matters they discussed. Then Mr. Clinton declared he was going home to the White House to be with his family.

      A few minutes later the Pope came out to make his statement. He looked tired, discouraged and was practically in tears. Sadly he announced his meeting with the President was a failure. Incredulous, one reporter asked, "But your Holiness, President Clinton just announced the summit was a great success and the two of you agreed on 80% of the items discussed".

      Exasperated, the Pope answered, "Yes, but we were talking about the Ten Commandments."

Well prayers are answered and as usual God in His wisdom so far above mans foolishness chose a mysterious way to do so.  See for yourself.

No, god didn't do that, a human being did.  Given how lottery winners often turn out, it was probably smart of him to get rid of the damned check, but I'd have given it to some organization with a stronger grip on reality.

I hope they thanked *HIM* and not "god."  "Mysterious ways" means that half the time, prayer works in situations where the desired outcome has a 50/50 probability of occurring.

In the past week I had to again remove comments from Random when they turned into mere hate attacks on Christianity and personal libel against myself.  Even though I made it known that I did not wish to converse with him further and put a block on him.  He found away around the block and tried to spam me into submission.  Now I am watching the same thing occur on HM blogs.  The bully this time is Sioux and the victim is HM.  While I agree with Sioux about the wrongness of HM's position,but trying to bully a blogger when he has made his position about not wanting your comments is just the same kind of stalker behavior that Random pulls. That is why his comments are no longer permitted on my blogs.  Everyone who post here must respect the other persons boundaries.  I am not saying you can't disagree with them ,but if your comments are not acceptable to the other person, then post a blog representing your own opinions.  To try to continue to force yourself on someone is an act of violence.

I remember the nuns from grade school, and Sister Mary Becker might even have placed in this competition:  a beauty pageant for nuns.

Sister Claudine, no...

[Edited]  It's time for a new thread.

What folks tend to skip over in their disdain for such organizations as the Ku Klux Klan is that it is, of course, a Christian organization.  They didn't pick the burning *CROSS* for a symbol just because it's easy to nail together.  Their ideals are Biblically rooted--as were the ideals of those who instituted slavery in the US in the first place.

The Klan, as you might expect, is against same-sex marriage as is their parent organization.  They line up neatly with the bigots pushing the anti-marriage Proposition 8 in California (and, of course, with Christian Fred Phelps and his "God Hates Fags" group).  And needless to say, they don't like interracial marriage much either.

Which brings up the point:  Just what "traditional" marriage does Buffoo want to protect?  Presumably one that dates back further than 1964, when interracial marriage was legalized in the US by a Supreme Court decision with identical reasoning to the one in California that legalized same-sex unions.

So it stands to reason that the Christians pushing the hatred of gays in Proposition 8, will be coming for the mixed-race marriages next.  Who then?  The Jews?  Well, there's Biblical justification for *THAT* one, too--as Roman Catholic Adolf Hitler used to his advantage.

When they come for *YOU*, will there be anyone left to speak up?

Two hunters claim to have found a 7-foot-7-inch Bigfoot and to have it stashed in a freezer to "keep it fresh."  News Conference scheduled Friday in Palo Alto to display photographs and DNA samples.

Me, I'll believe it when the scientists get a crack at it--if ever.  And I thought the silly season couldn't get any sillier.

Stolen blatantly from DailyKos:

  • He’s black. And Peter King (R-NY) vows to make his life a living hell.

  • Virginia may be over-hyped even though he’ll probably win it.

  • Michigan is in play, especially if Romney is added to the ticket. No word on what having Romney on the ticket would do in other states.

  • Much like a terrorist attack, if the economy gets worse it might be good for McCain since Obama only leads by 17 points on economic issues.

  • Bob Barr isn’t much of a factor.

  • Not only is Obama black, but he’s not white. Or from the south.

  • Some say that people might want a divided government.

Given the Karl Rove tactic of attacking an opponent for things you yourself are guilty of, it was odd that John McBush has been subtly trying to indicate that there's something, oh, let's say Revelation-ish about his opponent in the November election.

Turns out McBush *HIMSELF* is the Anti-Christ.

http://www.thenation.com/bl...

Now it makes sense.  There was no way Obama could fit the description of a "pale rider," but McBush, now...*THAT* guy is pale.

Excuse me.  I've got to figure how I can relate "666" to "John Sidney McCain III."  Hmmm.  Maybe Bush's number is "222," and McBush being the third term would complete the addition problem.  Carry the one...

Hmmm again...he's trying to be the 44th President, that could be considered the eleventh king of the fourth kingdom, dividing the Presidents equally.

Maybe I should be watching this site instead of 538:

http://www.raptureready.com...

Hmmm...the rapture is down one point.  McBush must be slipping in the polls again.  But they seem to have left Russia off the list, so there's still time to get a bet down.

By the way:

Record low rapture index recorded during the Clinton first term.
Record high rapture index recorded during the Bush first term.

In the interests of fairness, there have been some scurrilous rumors going around about John McCain.  This posting sets the record straight:

================================================= =====

THE LIE: Combined, the McCain family has has a credit card balance that is more than $750,000 and their interest rate is 24.49%.

THE TRUTH: The McCains pay off their credit card bills on a monthly basis. The $750,000 figure is also wrong, though it is true that between January 2007 and May 2008, one of the credit cards did reach $500,000 and another reached $250,000.

Also, with a combined net worth over $100 million, most of the credit cards did not have any interest payments at all. Only their Visa, Mastercard, and Saks Fifth Avenue cards (monthly balances ranging between $15,000 and $50,000) charged interest.

::: :::

THE LIE: McCain purchased two separate $4.7 million dollar condos in San Diego for their own enjoyment.

THE TRUTH: The combined cost of the two condos was $4.7 millon, and one of them was for the kids.

::: :::

THE LIE: The McCains spent over $500,000 in 2007 on household staff, such as maids and butlers.

THE TRUTH: They increased their household staffing budget from $184,000 in 2006 to only $273,000 in 2007.

::: :::

THE LIE: The McCains spent $11 million between the summer of 2004 and February 2008 on 13 different residences.

THE TRUTH: They spent $11 million acquiring five residences.

::: :::

THE LIE: The McCains inherited a business worth $1,000,000,000 from relatives.

THE TRUTH: The McCains inherited assets worth more than $100,000,000 from relatives, but those assets are unlikely to be worth $1,000,000,000.

::: :::

THE LIE: John McCain gambles away hundreds of thousands of dollars at the craps tables in Las Vegas.

THE TRUTH: While John McCain does frequently play craps in Las Vegas in continuous 14-hour sessions, it is unlikely that he has ever gambled away $100,000 in a single session.
