Two arrested in attempted murder investigation

Synopsis: Arrests made in the Steven Stewart attempt murder investigation
Details:
This is a news release of the Kern County Sheriff's Department.
Please do not contact the Sheriff's Communications Center.

Date:     Friday, November 30, 2007
Time:     9:16:27 AM
Department contact: Sgt Ed Komin
Phone: 303-4592

Details:

Sheriff's detectives have discovered that the owner of Coast Roofing, 60 year old Francis Giangrossi,
married a 41 year woman about three months ago.  Giangrossi's new wife had been involved in a romantic
relationship with Stewart some time ago. It seems that after their relationship ended, bad blood between
Giangrossi's wife and Stewart developed and both have made numerous harassment allegations against
the other since then.

It appears that Giangrossi's wife complained about Stewart's behavior to her husband.  Giangrossi
contacted his 41-year-old brother, James Skiba asked Skiba if he knew anyone who would assault Stewart
as retaliation for harassing his wife.  Skiba said he would take care of the situation.

Skiba is a supervisor at Coast Roofing.  He contacted an employee of the business, Jesus Estrada
regarding Giangrossi's wishes.  Estrada agreed to make the necessary arrangements to have Stewart
assaulted in exchange for a sum of money.

On 10-7-07 Stewart's house was shot at while he is sitting in his living room.  The shotgun slug narrowly
missed him.

After this first attempt on Stewart's life failed, Jesus Estrada met with his cousin, Ulises Espino and
23-year-old Cesar Montoya regarding the Stewart situation and further arrangements were made to assault
or kill Stewart.

Their plan was carried out on 11-5-07 and resulted in the death of Espino.

On 11-10-07 Francis Giangrossi was alone at Coast Roofing at 3124 Patton Way when he attempted to kill
himself by shooting himself in the head.  He shot himself with a .38 handgun, but the resulting gunshot did not
result in fatal injuries.  He was transported to Kern Medical Center for the self-inflicted gunshot wound and
was later released.

Yesterday afternoon Sheriff's detectives served a search warrant at Coast Roofing.  Skiba came to the
business and was arrested for the attempted murder of Stewart, the murder of Espino and conspiracy.

Giangrossi voluntarily came to the Sheriff's Headquarters Facility and was also arrested for the attempted
murder of Stewart, the murder of Espino and conspiracy.

The investigation is continuing.

When you take a shot at your own head and miss so badly the hospital releases you, it shows a certain lack of conviction unless it went in one ear and out the other.

I guess his heart wasn't really into taking his own life..wait until he gets to prison..at that age,he'll wish he was a better shot...should have contracted 'union' help...

It does show an unsteady hand at best..he should have outsourced that job also. What a waste of a life, a career ..really sad despite the hilarious components of the situation.

Chico, you should know better. If the old guy would have hired 4 white dudes, they would have charged him $10,000 each. These numbskulls probably only charged him $200 each. Or he could have hired Timec's two unemployed brothers, but more than likely they wouldn't have shown up for work, and put in for some disability scam.

Him: Que?

Me: Yeah. thats it.

Him: Que?

Me: Yeah. Right. Thats what I said.

I'm hearing more arrests are expected.  My question is, did the wife/ex-girlfriend (whose name I know and won't post until it's public record) know that her husband put a hit out on her former boyfriend?  I'm sick about this.  I don't want to think she went off the deep end and thought murder would be easier than getting a restraining order.  If I were her at this moment, I'm sure I would need some serious tranquilizers.  I just want to hug her kids.  What a freakin mess.  And as far as Steve is concerned, he is no angel, but his prior actions should have been reported to the police instead of taking the vigilante approach.
posted by defiant_wench on Nov 30, 2007 at 03:29 PM
ChicoEsquela - You are absolutely right.  I knew this was coming two weeks ago and I'm in Denver.  How's that for secrecy?

Bakersfield's "Helen of Troy" (thanks Sagefever) has been posted in another article.  http://www.bakersfield.com/...

Madica, I am hurting for you.  I hope you have a good lawyer and really did not know anything about this.

posted by sagefever on Nov 30, 2007 at 03:54 PM
It is a terrible tragedy~ and over what??? At least 7 peoples lives are for ever altered over this, and many more lives will be affected at the edges of this mess. I simply do not understand how some peoples minds work~ and often find great comfort in that fact. What could be worth jail time? let alone the taking of another life? My heart goes out to the innocents here.
posted by TangledUpInBlue on Nov 30, 2007 at 07:35 PM
The Sheriff's Department says the wife/ex-girlfriend was clueless about the whole thing. Who knows. But as far as steven not being an angel... who cares, he's the victim. If he messed with the relationship somehow, that sucks, but it doesn't justify putting a hit out on the guy. He didn't do anything to deserve this.
posted by ChicoEsquela on Nov 30, 2007 at 07:44 PM

gee tangled up, that is certainly profound.

I really think we all comprehend that factoid dildoid

put the cig down and noodle this

what do you REALLY think the reason was????

hint: $$$$$$

sheeshe dylan dude. you sure have a handle (but on what?)

posted by TangledUpInBlue on Nov 30, 2007 at 08:18 PM

actually I wasn't trying to be profound, I was responding to defiant_wench's post... you know, where she wonders if the wife/ex had any knowledge.... then when she says steven is no angel... it's called RESPONDING. So, how about you make sure you actually comprehend what i'm talking about IN CONTEXT next time before you spend so much time carefully stringing clever little sentences together... that way we won't have this problem again!! K???

posted by ChicoEsquela on Nov 30, 2007 at 08:35 PM

gee

I certainly will not deign to "string clever little sentences together"

certainly wouldn't want to offend your linguistic or literary sensibilities there dylan dude

gee "in context"

what a conept

I suspect you be a Dimicrat..... try instructing your fellow travelers in same.........

no no no, no bpd for me. Uh, I'm not sure why dylan is smoking in that picture. probably because he wanted to and no one knew about global warming when he was that age.

I protested the war at a major college campus with Bob Dylan once

A couple a years later I was over there in infantry

isn't that wierd?

I was a fan. One of my borthers used to play his music over there too

on a Martin Drednaught D-2

We were pacificsts

Can you believe that?

posted by TangledUpInBlue on Nov 30, 2007 at 09:22 PM
I'm actually finding it hard to believe. You're not a fan anymore?
posted by ChicoEsquela on Nov 30, 2007 at 09:33 PM

honestly, I am now having a hard time being a fan of anyone who trashes our troops or their current mission(s)

I cannot go to movies anymore due to that

but I just saw 3 ten to yuma and was blown away

what a great movie!

but, those that take the cheap route to trash Bush and along the way trash our tropps and their mission (which is them) I just can't abide that

sorry

old sojer I guess

posted by TangledUpInBlue on Nov 30, 2007 at 09:54 PM

Trashing the troops and trashing the mission(s) are two very different things. I completely support the troops, even the ones who support the mission and believe what they're doing is right because the administration is right. I just don't support what the administration is doing, you know? If you haven't seen it, you should see Why We Fight. It's a great doc about the military industrial complex, and it is very unbiased and not the typical michael moore BS. And on a separate note, I just saw blood diamond for the first time... that is a great movie.

P.S. The guys who hired the mexican kids to kill the guy weren't rednecks, they were italian.

They should have stuck with the old Mafia.  Apparently the new one isn't working well for them.  Now those Corleone boys..they knew how to get the job done.
