Ok. Republicans don't hate America-they just hat Obama. Democrats don't hate America-they just hated BUSH. Poli-Sci 101: The office of President is BIGGER than any one man. The United States is bigger than any one President. We may have VERY different ideas about America-but that in essence IS what America is: E Pluribus Unim. Fair enough? Can EVERYONE agree that America is many things to many people-neither more or less American than others? Now lets move on. posted by

I loved America when Bush was President. I love America now that Obama is President. I would contend that Republicans hated America when Bush was President, and they still hate it now. That's why they supported Bush's America-destroying policies and hate Obama's America-saving policies. It's pretty simple, really. posted by

I've never hated America and never will. I've just hated seeing it be fundamentally changed, for the worse, since our Dear Leader declared that we were five days away from that happening before Election Day. Thank God there is something that never fundamentally changes, and that is the church built by Jesus on the rock that is Peter and his successors. Unfortunately, our undocumented president regards that as clinging to outworn concepts and inconsiderately wants to rock the boat to the delight of our enemies. Wonder if he thinks the same thing about our nation's founders? After all, didn't he view the Constitution as a "breathing, living document?" posted by

I love America. I love America that promises me an opportunity. I love America that says 'if you try, you'll succeed'. However, recent so called democratic Americans have this entitlement mentality (totally different from JFK's 'ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country'), Recent liberal America says we ought to share everything even if you didn't work for it. Recent liberal America that would rather spend time fighting for someone else's hard earned income rather than going out earning their own. I love America - the old fashioned America that rewards hard work. I don't hate America, I just hate all the lazy liberabl bloggers on this web site and others that think it is within their rights to take rather than ask through taxes. I hate the liberals that would rather spend all day putting up inflamatory blogs while bashing the corporate America, the very America that is willing to give them jobs. No, I don't hate America. I just hate all the lazy liberals with a sense of entitlement for doing nothing except posting crap on blog sites all day and listening to conservative talk shows only to find more to complain about. Some perspective is needed here. We often don't realize how lucky they are to be living here. I had a friend who went on a business trip to China for a week. Despite the fact he stayed in a urban city, there were a lot of things that were poor by American standards. I am neither liberal or conservative because I don't like either extreme end of the political spectrum. I never hated Bush and I don't hate Obama either. Being a president is a tough job, regardless of their political affiliation. That said, I will always love America for opportunities that my folks and I are able to pursue after.... which are hard to find anywhere else. posted by

Saying anyone hates America is juvenile and is only meant to inflame. None of us hates America People may hate what's going on in America at any given time but it's ridiculous to say that people hate their country because they disagree. Republicans, Conservatives, Independants Libertarians, Democrats and Liberals all want what THEY feel is right for our country we just have different ideas how to go about getting it done. Posting hate filled blogs isn't doing anyone any good and only serves to divide. posted by

I love America for the oppurtunities it presents in relation to the rest of the world. For a poor kid from a poor family, I've had more opportunities than I could envision if I were born in other parts of the world (to include industrialized nations). Colin Powell writes in his book how his life would have been different if his parents stayed in Jamaica or immigrated to UK. It was interesting insight into the possibilities for success in America. I like Obama for the possibility of change, in foreign relations and health care in particular. For everything that is gret about America, it is by no means perfect. posted by

I don't want to give the impression that I won't continue to post articles that I find interesting. Some I may not even agree with but still find interesting. It doesn't mean that others shouldn't continue to post articles that THEY find interesting. My POINT is that we should stop all these "why do you hate America" attacks. Hate isn't a work that's in my vocabulary much unless we're talking about certain vegetable, hog head cheese and red traffic lights. While I vehemently disagree with most Liberal leanings I do NOT hate them. They are simply another point of view..one with which I disagree. posted by

I think hate is a really strong word. I don't think that any one side hates America. I think they have contempt for how the other side sees fit to steer where the country is going. I would certainly hope that anyone living here has love for this country. And I think that anyone willing to devote time to bringing about change or to help guide this country, regardless of the part affiliation would do so out of love of this country. Not because of some deep rooted feelings for the "other team". I think a lot of people on these blogs use sterotyping to just garner a response. You know who you are. posted by

It is fine to say "Stop saying (fill in the party/view) hate America" But that statement implies that "the other" ,at some point did not love/like their country. We can passionatley disagree about how to get from A to B : but at some point we must compromise to get anything done. Much like in a marriage being "right" about a certain issue is not as important as acheiving a goal.

Personally, I'm tired of hearing that from BOTH sides. Again, that was my point. That's my point as well, Nancy. If Refi is sick of certain people on here claiming that other's "Hate America," he should also admit that many on his side of the fence have done the same thing. If you haven't noticed, I'm a stickler for hypocracy. While we are all hypocritical on occasion, I respect those who freely admit to their hypocracy. I discourage and denounce those who point the finger, as the pot calls the kettle "black." This is why I denounce Refi - for instead of stating it as you did, that both sides need to quit the childishness of bickering back and forth, "Why do you hate America?" - "No, why do you hate America?" instead Refi posts something that only further polarizes all of us.

In my opinion, the reason why healthcare, or any meaningful reform, will have difficuty passing is the presence of so much special interest cash in our nation's capitol. Both candidates spoke loudly at length of the need to curtail lobbying and special interest influence, but as usual, it was only lip service. The Tea Party movement, for all its warts and occaisional racism, is proof that there is growing frustration in this country about the impotence the average voter feels. We cannot control the system anymore, the system controls us. There are lobbying groups such as Common Cause that try to lobby for the public good, but they are drowned out by the narrow focus groups. Lobbying is considered "free speech" and is protected by the Constitution, the very Constitution that these groups want to corrupt to serve their own selfish interests. But, we -the public - are given our diversions; sports, reality TV, lotteries, and the occaisional war, and think we are part of something. It is a circus, my friends, so we might as well sit back and enjoy the clowns. posted by

"... recent so called democratic Americans have this entitlement mentality." Which ones would those be? Are public schools an entitlement you disapprove of? Maybe it is the various school lunch programs you would like to see eliminated. Are Social Security and Medicare entitlements you would strip away from our senior citizens? I certainly have heard plenty of comments from conservatives not to mess with their Medicare or with their Social Security. These conservative people seem just as alarmed as liberals in the same age bracket over possible cuts to these programs. Maybe public roads and highways are entitlements you would remove from the American landscape. Sell them to the highest bidders and pay tolls to use, or just have the roads closed by the private property owners who find the cost of repairs too high to maintain. Does a program like First Five in California bother you? Where tax money from chump smokers goes to aid economically disadvantaged kids five and under with health coverage. So, Casooner90, what entitlements are you talking about, and specifically who are you referring to in your statement that has this so-called mentality? I would argue large corporations in energy, defense and agriculture get the lion's share of entitlements today, but those are called subsidies or tax breaks, or bond measures.

adam's typical 'you don't want to pay for anything' bucket. Dude, we'll talk when you pay your fair share. The fact is you and I probably use about same amount of public services (I'm guessing you use more since I spend most of my time at work), but you and I don't pay the same amount. Because you're lazy and have decided to drop out of the society (I don't buy your lame excuse about dropping out of corporate America, I think you were fired for your laziness and now bent on hating anything corporate), your taxes are less and therefore your contribution to the society is less. But, you still think others should pay more as 'fair' isn't in your vocabulary anymore. Thanks for sharing your liberal entitlement sentiment again. Advertisement |
