It's been a couple of days, but I'm still not clear how the illegal immigration resolution approved by the City Council Wednesday is radically different from those proposed by Councilman David Couch .

The 500 acres chosen as the final resting place for thousands of American veterans and their spouses is surely one of the most picturesque spots in Kern County -- the perfect place to honor those who have honored their country.

The only surprise about the California Supreme Court's recent decision that public pay is public information is that some people were surprised.
Of course public pay should be accessible to taxpayers. That's why they call it public.
Even so, what should have been a foregone conclusion had to wind its turtle-like way through the state's judiciary until California's highest court affirmed Monday that taxpayers have the right to know the names and wages of those whose salaries they pay.
