It's been a couple of days, but I'm still not clear how the illegal immigration resolution approved by the City Council Wednesday is radically different from those proposed by Councilman David Couch . A few months ago, Couch called for resolutions making English the official language of Bakersfield and declaring the city would not become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants. Considering that English is already the official language of California and illegal immigration is, after all,...

So there I was, up to my elbows in a column on term limits, when I was gobsmacked by a news item on WorldNetDaily, one of those news sites that runs stories most mainstream media don't. Seems some parents in Wildomar, near Riverside, are in a snit because the private Christian school they sent their daughters to is opposed to the girls' homosexual behavior. California Lutheran High School officials expelled the girls for "engaging in homosexual conduct in violation of the Christian...

The only surprise about the California Supreme Court's recent decision that public pay is public information is that some people were surprised. Of course public pay should be accessible to taxpayers. That's why they call it public. Even so, what should have been a foregone conclusion had to wind its turtle-like way through the state's judiciary until California's highest court affirmed Monday that taxpayers have the right to know the names and wages of those whose salaries they pay....
