Bakersfield PD and traffic tickets

What is with the Bakersfield PD?  I called them about 4 weeks ago, complaining about the all the illegal parking going on at the Aera Baseball Park on sundays.  The entrance is marked with multiple NO PARKING signs, yet at least 20 cars are illegally parked there every Sunday.  They said they would send the info to the appropriate division.  Last Sunday, there was a Bakersfield PD unit in the park.  I assumed he was there to ticket the violators.  But no.  He parked in a red stripped  NO PARKING zone with cruiser on and the AC going, right in front of a line of illegally parked cars.  He parked there and watched a ball game (presumably his son's) for at least 1/2 an hour.   No tickets were written that I know of....

Got Pictures?   Do you have any photos to substantiate your  complaints?  Do you own  a camera equipped cell phone? Take pictures of the license plates and post them here.  I see vehicles in violation of parking regulations at almost every sporting event I attend.  The folks really showing no class are the drivers blocking the crosswalks and the wheel chair access points to the sidewalks.   Some people think they are just too important to obey the rules. Too bad their children are probably learning to think  the same way.

Maybe a known felony warrant suspect, with a warrant for sexual assault on a child, was supposed to be at the ballgame and the officer was trying to locate him and arrest him. Maybe his best vantage point was where he was parked in the no parking zone, which he can legally do. Would you rather he not try to locate and arrest the warrant suspect, and instead get out of his car and write parking tickets?

Maybe you, ronmexico, need to think before you post a blog and make yourself look like an idiot.

Thanks for the advice ChumpMate....  So how did the arrest of the known felony warrant suspect go??  Is the guy in jail now??

Bravo to the brave PD officer..  Sounds like a well executed plan....  Lets review the plan, shall we?  Know felony suspect is supposed to be at the park.  Lets send one officer to the park.  When he gets there, he will go to the Pinto field and watch the game from his cruiser, while occasionaly reading something (newspaper?).  After watching that game for awhile, the plan is to cruise on over the the snack bar area and park in the red no parking zone.  Once parked, the plan is to exit the cruiser, while it is still running and the AC on and walk over to the Little League fields.  Watch your son strike out on 3 pitches, then meet him in the dugout and tell him to keep his hands back, man up and hit the ball.  Then walk over to the other fields and see whats happening.  Meanwhile, the felony suspect is halfway to Taft, as he made his getaway while Barney was reading the sports page... Dang, that is a brilliant plan...

Now back to the parking.  Either enforce the damn no parking signs, or just remove them.  Makes no difference to me.  The Fire Department may get a little pissed they can't get their emergency vehicles into the park, but that is their problem.

The problem is that the BPD probably has better things to do than write parking tickets at a public venue, whereas it will do nothing other than incite the rude, inconsiderate people that parked illegally anyways.  Even if the BPD wrote the parking tickets, the minute the officer left and the owner of the vehicle returned and left, another rude, inconsiderate would only park in the same location.  Here's an idea, why don't you write your Congressman and have them allot more budgetary money to hire more officers and assign them to weekend baseball games, because there isn't already enough rampant crime that the BPD and other law enforcement agencies cannot respond to.

Another thought, maybe the officer you saw at that location was not dispatched there for the parking situation and was there to see their child, thus having no clue about the previous complaint and/or problem.  Maybe the officer was parked there and writing a report, in a familiar, family oriented area, where they didn't have to worry about being shot at or treated rudely.  I'm sure that not every time someone sees an officer "just sitting in his car" are they wasting time

Maybe, people should go on a ride a long with BPD and/or any other local law enforcement and see that officers just don't drive around and waste the citizens tax money.  The officers of Bakersfield/Kern County work a full 10+ hour day and beyond.  I really wish people would stop bashing law enforcement and get educated about what they really do....just a thought!!!

Juanmexico, I didn't give you any advise. I just pointed out that there could be a reason why the officer was there.

Also, maybe that was his beat, and he wanted to watch his son play baseball before he got his next call. No doubt he was listening to his radio in case he was called. And if he got a priorty call, he would have responded.

I wonder if you are a disgruntled groundskeeper at the ballpark who could not get your mower past the patrol unit?
