I read this story and was appalled.  I'm sorry this girl got shot, but wasn't she breaking the law a bit herself?  She is 14 years old, out at street races (and they were street racing, I used to go out to that area years ago with my ex), with some guy who was 21 years old, the car she was in tried to run over an officer and then the car sped off.  Hmmm, doesn't that seem sort of a bad thing?? And now, shock shock, she's sueing the CHP and the officer involved.  I know the officer didn't do exactly what he was supporsed to about calling in the shot fired and preserving the scene, but when he shot, it was to save his life when a car was careening towards him.  Does anyone else see this as wrong when another Bakersfield family wants to get millions off of a mistake of their own?? Why will nobody except that they were the one at fault?? Quit blaming other for your misfortune.  Sorry it happened, but you put yourself in the wrong situation at the wrong time.  Wasn't it a Sunday night, I think that is a school night for 14 year olds and being out passed midnight is a couple hours after curfew.  Ok, I'm done!

This story tore at my heart once I read it.  I used to live in Seattle, so I still read the Times newspaper from there and the story just made me cry.  You can read for yourself and after ward, if you decide to help the family out, there is a fund now for them.  Make checks to Gomez Benevolent Account and please mail to :

AmericanWest Bank

3945 W. Court Street

Pasco, WA 99301

Thanks alot everyone

I just don't get you guys!  I'm so fed up with the "yah, I'll call you" thing and you don't! I guess I'm just courteous and I call people when I tell them I will.  Ok, just thought I would vent, my holiday didn't go as planned :(  But, if someone can explain this to me, I'd appreciate it, thank you.
